Richard E. Rice

Richard E. Rice, a loved father, son, brother, and friend passed away suddenly on September 20, 2018, in Webster, Tx at the age of 51. He was born on August 07, 1967 to Darlene and Thomas E. Rice Jr. in La Marque, Tx. In his early years, his passion was baseball and he succeeded in pitching many no-hitters. As with many young men, this faded away to girls, cars, friends, and work.

In the early 90’s, Richard was involved in local dart tournaments. This is where he met the love of his life, Laura F. Winstead. They were a match made in heaven as they raised their children. Laura tragically passed away on August 12, 2017.

Richard was an intelligent man and a self-proclaimed, Mr. Fix It. He was dedicated and a hardworking man, who strongly believed that Duct Tape could fix anything. Richard found his passion when he began work at EMR Elevator Company, where he spent many years servicing the Houston and Galveston area. He also had a knack for making new friends and always found a way to make everyone that he met smile. He was an expert at telling jokes, stories, and just listening.

Richard was an amazing man and a dedicated loving husband and father. He is survived by his mother Darlene A. Rice, father Thomas E. Rice Jr., brother Curtis C. Rice, sister-in-law Stephanie K. Rice, daughter Kristen L. Tompkins, son-in-law Christopher A. Tompkins, his sons Michael A. Rice and Richard E. Rice Jr, and his granddaughter Addelynn G. Tompkins. His extended family includes step-children Clayton George Guerrero, Pablo Jr. Guerrero and their four children, Damius, Amius, Kamryn, and Leelan.

A celebration of his life will be conducted on September 29, 2018.

  1. You were my everything. The person that I looked forward to talking to. My best friend that I enjoyed hearing from whether it was a phone call, a text message, or a youtube video. You were always there and pushed me to be the best that I could be. The person that I relied on to calm me down when I was having a bad day. The person that I looked up to even though most the time I would never tell you that you made sense and was 100% right. Dad, I will forever miss you. I don’t know what I’m going to do without you. I love you always and forever. Rest in paradise with your one true love. I love you Daddy. I wish you wouldn’t have left me so soon.

  3. As heartbroken as I am, I’m also extremely blessed. Richard and Laura were not only our best friends, they were our family. I will always treasure our memories and all of the laughter we shared. You only meet someone like Richard and Laura once in a lifetime, if you’re lucky. We were definitely lucky. I love you both infinity. I promise to always look over your loved ones as best as I can. I won’t say goodbye because I know we’ll be together again sharing laughter and love. So, until we meet again….
