Phelps, Katherine012Pearly Katherine Roberts Phelps, 84, of Hitchcock, Texas, formerly of LaMarque for over 25 years, passed away Friday, May 8, 2015 in Center, Texas. Katherine was born to Roscoe and Goldie Roberts in Scott Depot, West Virginia, on November 15, 1930. She graduated from LaMarque High School in 1948. Her professional banking career expanded thirty-five years from teller to vice-president serving Bank of the Mainland in LaMarque and Citizens State Bank in Dickinson. For many years, she was active in the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign War and a member of Business and Professional Women Organization. She enjoyed team bowling and playing bingo.

Katherine was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 56 years, B.N. Cotton Phelps; son David Phelps; brother Rothstine Boots Roberts; and sisters, Frances Bell and Betty Jo Porter.

Mrs. Phelps is survived by her son Jerry Phelps and wife, Pam, of Center; granddaughter, Valerie Ogle and husband, Tommy, of Longview; grandson Nathan Phelps and wife, Amber, of Center; great grandchildren Maggie Ogle, Mollie Kate Ogle, Kiptyn Phelps, and Baylin Phelps; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held in her honor 11:00 am, Saturday, May 16, 2015, at Crowder Funeral Home Chapel, Dickinson, Texas, with Reverend Ron Clark officiating. Interment services will  follow at Forest Park East Cemetery, in Webster, Texas.  Honored to serve as pallbearers are Nathan Phelps, Tommy Ogle, Mike Pate, Ryan Smith, Jarrett Smith and Cody Bell. Honorary pallbearers are Gary Bell, Dan Hill, Garry Carter and Willie Bill Kirkpatrick.

  1. we love the family and i still have the music box she gave me when i was little. i am a member of the cameron VFW ladies auxillary . and did not know she was . me and my mom and ronnie have a lot of fond memories. My God grant your family peace.
