Nancy Ann Satterthwaite Robb

Nancy Ann Satterthwaite Robb was born on August 19, 1948, to her loving parents, Dorothy Mae and Captain, Fred Christy “Chis” Satterthwaite. Due to her father’s service in the Navy, Nancy and her younger brother, Gary, spent much of their early childhood relocating to different areas, including Illinois, Ohio, California, and Spain, until eventually settling down in Virgina.

Nancy was a devoted student who graduated high school at the top of her class. She attended Northwestern University where she joined the Alpha Phi Sorority. Upon graduation, Nancy eventually began working for the Naval Investigative Service where she met Daniel L. Robb. The two married on April 24, 1982, and had one child, Jaclyn Christy Robb.

In 1988, Daniel was hired by the United States Customs Service (currently U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement) and the family relocated from Fairfax, Virgina to Houston, Texas. Nancy was initially dismayed, as the move separated her from Gary, who was still living on the East Coast. However, Nancy gained employment in the procurement department of NASA, where she worked for 27 years. This was fitting, as she was an avid aviation and space fan, likely a result of having an aviator father. Nancy’s career brought her immense satisfaction, as well as lasting friendships with several exceptional women who she worked alongside.

Nancy’s pass times included caring for her family, home, and pets. Since childhood, she was an animal lover and had a soft spot for dogs. Three of the loves of her life included Natasha, a Weimaraner, Gabby, a Pomeranian, and finally, in the end, Addi, her doting Miniature Pincher. Nancy also attended events hosted by the Alumnae Panhellenics Chapter and attended St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, where she volunteered and became a dedicated partitioner. Upon retiring from NASA, Nancy began volunteering at Seabrook Library, increasing her involvement at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, and spending more time with her daughter, Jaclyn, her husband Terry, and her beloved granddaughter, Alice Schwing. Nancy also found significant joy attending fitness classes at the El Lago City Hall and Community Center. There she attended a yoga class, which introduced her to a lovely group of friends.

On September 24, 2022, Gary and Cheryl Satterthwaite moved to Clear Lake to be Nancy’s constant companions and caregivers. Their love and company were a blessing to her. On November 6, 2023, Nancy passed away peacefully in her home of more than 30-years, surrounded by her immediate family. Nancy’s time on earth was made full by her personal accomplishments, her family ties (including pets), and her beautiful friendships she formed over the years.
