Minthon Wescom

Minthon “Mick” Edward Wescom, 81, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2019 surrounded by his family in Houston, Texas. Mick was born on September 24, 1937, in Jamestown, North Dakota to Blanche and Clarence Wescom. He was the youngest of five children. Mick served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958. He graduated from North Dakota State University in 1962 with a degree in Agriculture and had a long, successful career as a commodity and stock broker. On September 1, 1962, he married Sally Huss in Sykeston, North Dakota. They raised three sons and one daughter. In 1969, he moved his family to Omaha, Nebraska where he lived until 2017, enjoying time on his small farm and of course, becoming an avid Husker football fan. When not at the office or indoors reading or watching football, Mick loved to golf, garden (especially growing roses), and go on hunting trips with his sons. During his retirement years in Nebraska and Texas, he attended many of his grandchildren’s sporting events. Mick and Sally also enjoyed traveling to see the country, visiting many of the National Parks. He loved being
outdoors and taking long walks. A man of few words with a heart full of love, he will truly be missed. Mick is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sally; children, Mark Wescom, Monica Lee (Jae), Mike Wescom (Nianna), and Tom Wescom (Levonne); grandchildren, John Cavallo, Matthew Wescom, Mallory Wescom, Chris Lee, and Alex Lee; sister Janice Leen; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Wayne Wescom, sisters Cedy Zink (Russell) and Elaine Sorem (Melvin). A funeral mass will be held at 4:00 pm on Monday, January 28, 2019 at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church. The Interment Ceremony will take place at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Elkhorn, Nebraska at a later date.
