Minerva Gonzalez,

Minerva Gonzalez, 63, a 22 year resident of Pearland, TX passed away July 1, 2019 in Houston.  Mrs. Gonzalez was born April 27, 1956, in Mexico to Apolinar and Trinidad Martinez.  Minerva attended St. Helen Catholic Church and worked for Regency Care in Clear Lake for 6 years.  Minerva’s spirit always made everyone feel welcome and special. There was always a place in her home and heart for anyone that knew her.  She was loved for so many reasons, but just about everyone would agree that her cooking would bring family over to her house, no matter where they were at. She was adamant that family was most important, and every moment was to be cherished. She not only lived every moment to the fullest but made you feel as though you were able to share in so much more just by being around her.  Her favorite past time was either spent hosting amazing tea parties with her grandkids or tending to her garden and flowers.  She could find peace and joy in the simplest of things, and would always keep those around her grounded with her love of family and faith.  Her grace, smile, dedication to family, and strength of conviction will be remembered by all of those who had the pleasure to spend even a minute with her. She will be missed dearly, but she will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone she touched.

Minerva is preceded in death by her father, Apolinar Martinez, and brothers, Hipolito Martinez and Juan Jose Martinez.

Minerva leaves behind to cherish her memories, her husband of 41 years, Alfredo Gonzalez; daughters: Daizy Cortez, husband Eloy, Yanira Galindo, husband Joe Anthony and Laura Retzlaff, husband Alex; son, Alfredo Aaron Gonzalez, wife Ginger; mother Trinidad Martinez; grandchildren: Lisette Cortez, Aubrie Cortez, Avery Cortez, Cristian Galindo, Gavin Retzlaff, Vivian Retzlaff, Olivia Gonzalez and Aaron Gonzalez; sisters: Carolina Martinez, Sylvia Martinez and husband Jose Isabel, Enedelia Martinez and husband Guillermo, Hilda Martinez and husband Humberto and Dora Martinez and husband Daniel; brothers Saul Martinez and wife Eloina, Hector Martinez and wife Corina, Cesar Martinez and wife Grace and Miguel Martinez and wife Nora.

  5. Yanira and Family,

My heart broke this morning when I read the news. Your mom always had a smile on her face every time I saw her. She was certainly someone who loved her family, and that love was apparent in everything she did.

  8. My beloved sister would light the room as soon as she walked in , not only because of her beautiful smile but because of her beautiful soul! Sister I’m going to miss your phone calls telling me “ Sis where are flying to now” our long conversation when I was stuck in traffic and her giving updates on mom… I could call her and she would be at Cracker Barrel in 15 min! All decked out make up and matching outfits to jewelry the whole nine yards! She was our beautiful diva! I will miss you my sister but all memories will be in my heart ♥️ forever! Please give daddy a head rub on his bald head for me , give Pepe and Polo a big hug …and for me just guide me from up above
    Loving you dearly always
Doris ( she would call me that always )

  15. * Our hearts are broken because we miss her gracious and giving spirit, but we grieve not as those who have no hope because our hope is in our Lord who defeated death and was resurrected just as we have put our faith in His promises there by we shall see those who have gone before us again on the last day! Praise be to our GOD. Amen!!! Psalms 34:17-18.
