Max Anthony Griego

Max Anthony Griego (78) of La Marque, Texas passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2022. He was born on November 24, 1943 in Galveston, Texas to Myrtle and Max Griego. Max was a longtime resident of La Marque and taught Karate for over 50 years.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father. Max is survived by his loving wife Cathy Griego; daughter, Dawn Griego; sons, Gino Griego and ex-wife Brianne Whisnant, Johnny Griego and wife Jessica; sister, Sher Page and husband Alex; five grandchildren, Cailei Seker and husband Mehmet, Jaxon Griego, Bryce Griego, Izabella Griego and Brayen Griego; and one great-grandchild, Zehra Seker.

Anyone that lived in Santa Fe and was within a few miles of the Braves football field or out at Runge Park knew when he was around announcing. He would take notes and publish the highlights of the games in the local newspaper and loved every minute.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital or the SPCA.

There will be a celebration of life at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of James Crowder Funeral Home – La Marque.

  9. Max was my cousin. From my childhood I’ve always looked up to him, respected him and loved him. I have incredibly great memories of our summers together in both Galveston and Connecticut. He wasn’t cousin to me more than he was a wonderful. I will miss him dearly.
