Matthew Anthony Falco Jr.
Matthew Anthony Falco Jr. age 75, passed away peacefully at Orchard Park in League City, TX on May 22, 2026. He was born on May 30, 1950 in Galveston, TX to Matthew Anthony Falco Sr. and Rosa Giamfortone Falco. Matthew graduated from Dickinson High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Sam Houston State University in 1972. In 1973, he married his childhood friend and college sweetheart, Kathy Liggio. That same year, he began his career in education with the Dickinson Independent School District, serving as a third-grade teacher at Dickinson Primary and Silbernagel Elementary School. Later in his career, he transferred to Hughes Road Elementary School, where he taught music and art. Matt retired from DISD after 36 years of dedicated service.
In addition to his career as an educator, Matt possessed an exceptional talent and enduring passion for art, music, and design. He and his wife, Kathy, owned and operated a floral design business for many years, creating decorative arrangements for numerous churches, weddings, and local banks throughout Dickinson and the surrounding communities. Matt was deeply involved in his community and served at Shrine of the True Cross Catholic Church, where he and Kathy assisted with weddings and seasonal decorations. He was also a devoted supporter of the Dickinson Historical Society, the Dickinson Railroad Museum, and the Dickinson Public Library. Deeply proud of his Italian heritage and the rich history of Dickinson, Matt authored the book, “The Dickinson That Was.” Above all, Matt treasured time spent with his family and held a profound love for his granddaughters. He was widely admired for his meticulous care of his yard, his kindness towards his neighbors, and his warm and gracious sense of humor.
Matt is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Kathy Falco; his daughter, Ashley Garcia and her husband Carlos; his son, Christopher Falco and his wife, Jessica; and his granddaughters Katherine and Sadie, who brought him immense pride and joy. He is also survived by numerous extended family members including brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews, bonus grandchildren and one bonus great grandson.
In his honor, there will be a visitation on Thursday, May 28, 2026 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson, Texas. A rosary will follow at 7:00pm. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026 at 10:30am at Shrine of the True Cross Catholic Church in Dickinson, Texas. Interment will follow the mass at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, the Dickinson Historical Society, or the Dickinson Education Foundation.
