David John Tilotta Davis
David John Tilotta Davis, beloved husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, educator & friend was born on Nov. 8, 1943, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Houston, TX. He grew up in League City, TX where he attended K-12th grade.
David was born to Anthony J. Tilotta & Elsie Marie Gotcher. Following his father’s death in 1943, he was lovingly raised by his mother & adopted father, Chester L. Davis.
David met & married his wife, Virginia in 1968. They were blessed with 4 children & were married for a glorious 58 years. He cherished his wife & frequently expressed his profound love and appreciation for her.
David’s life was shaped by his love of the Lord & his dedication to learning & education. After graduating from Clear Creek High School in 1961, he attended Southwest Texas State College, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education in 1965. He later continued his education at The University of Houston-Clear Lake, earning a Master of Science degree in Educational Management in 1981. He served as a teacher in San Antonio before getting called to active military duty & proudly served the United
States Army for 3 years during the Vietnam war. Upon discharge, he worked as a teacher in Webster and later as an elementary school principal at League City Elementary (1981-1993) & Clear Lake Elementary (1993-1999).
David was active in his former church, Westminster Presbyterian Church, where he was ordained as a ruling elder in 1993 & later was an active member of Bay Area Presbyterian Church where he served on the session board and worked with his wife with the 2 & 3 year old’s in Wee Worship. His love of the Lord was evident to all who knew him & was reflected in the way he lived his life
More than anything, David will be remembered by his family for the love, guidance, humor, positive words of encouragement & memories that he shared throughout his life. He leaves behind a legacy that extends beyond his professional accomplishments – a legacy carried on through his family, the people he taught, & the many lives he touched.
He was preceded in his death by his parents, Anthony J. Tilotta, Elsie Marie Gotcher & Chester Davis.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Virginia Hull Davis, his children, Paul Davis (spouse Melissa & children Cris, Arianna, Jenna), Tamara (Tammy) Davis Klatt (spouse Wesley & children Jason, Joshua & Riley), Stephen Davis (spouse Moey & children Callie & Rian) & Amy Moore (spouse Jon & child Cameron), his brothers Mike Davis (spouse Adela) & C. Lynn Davis.
David’s favorite scripture was Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. This life I live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave himself for me.”
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (https://www.stjude.org/donate) or Special Olympics (https://support.specialolympics.org/a/donate-in-your-state).
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 28, 2026 from 6-8pm at Crowder Funeral Home, 1645 East Main, League City, Texas 77573. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at 11am at Bay Area Presbyterian Church, 670 East Medical Center Boulevard, Webster, Texas 77598.
My deepest condolences to David’s wonderful family, all of which he loved so deeply! David was a very special man that I had the privilege of being around at an early age and his friendship meant more to me than anything I could ever imagine. A man of faith, a deeply loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather! I know for sure that we will meet again in Heaven!

I am so sorry to hear of David ‘s passing. He was such a kind, caring person and a good friend. He was an excellent principal, and I enjoyed teaching with him at League City Elementary for several years. Condolences and prayers for his family.
I was both shocked and saddened to hear of David’s passing.He served as my principal for 12 years at LCE. I loved every minute working for such a kind. sweet, caring man. Such a great loss for all of us! My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this sad and difficult time. 🥲❤️🩹🙏His smile will be with all of us forever.

Heartfelt condolences go out to his entire family.This man was a detremental part of so many peoples education and socialization skills for years.He was also someone I got to see daily for so many years in and out of school.At school it was because I was his most seen customer in a set day than most probably all others.Either it was there or at there place on Coburn street while me and Steaven,yet again would swap another 1 of the many transmissions out on 1 of the mustangs because he was always smoking them and he would always ask if I would help,he would pay me.I personally believe it was because I was cheaper than anyone else. Anyways back to the point,So I am glad I got to see him 1 more time before he made the trip.A few weeks ago at Krogers,it was nice. We caught up said our goodbyes and I left.I didnt realize it would be the last time.It all happens for a reason.Prayers to all the family and Mr. David you will be missed but,your impact here wont be.I am proof to that.Rest easy Mr. Davis,you did a great job sir.
David was a wonderful person and friend. He touched so many lives . He was a mentor and friend to so many people in this area. His legacy will live on. He will be greatly missed.. He is at peace in God’s presence!!

Sending prayers to comfort Mr. Davis’s family & friends. I had the privilege of teaching at Clear Lake City Elementary under his kind & exceptional leadership as my principal. He made such an impression on me & welcomed me every day with a warm & welcoming hello. His faith shined through him in the ways that he loved on the children and staff under his leadership. My thoughts and prayers to the Davis family. I only met Mr. Davis a few times and each time I met him he was the light of the room. His stories were amazing and he enjoyed life. I enjoyed his company and he will be missed. He left a legacy behind that he cherished as much as they cherished him back. May the memories of him bring you comfort during this most difficult time.

He wasn’t just your dad—he was our elementary school principal, so he was such a familiar and important part of our childhood years.
