Mary W. “Billie” Hobbs Evans

Mary W. “Billie” Hobbs Evans, 87, of Santa Fe, passed away Friday, February 17, 2017 at her residence. Mary was born May 12, 1929, in League City, Texas, to Noah and Rosa Holland. Mary worked as a receiving clerk for Sears. She was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church and was an Altar Guild.  Mary is preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands: Taz Hobbs of 49 years, and Cecil Milton Evans; daughters: Peggy Dobbs and Sherry Walker; and six siblings.   Mary is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law: Toni and Steve Jones of Santa Fe, Joyce and Claude Duncan of Alvin and Jerry and Mary Ann Bosworth and their daughters Amanda and Katie; eleven grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; multiple nieces and nephews. A special thanks to Doris and Bobby Isbell of Bedias, Texas. A visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Monday, February 20, 2017 at James Crowder Funeral Home, La Marque.  Services will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at All Saints Episcopal Church, Santa Fe, with Rev. Mark Marmon officiating. Interment will follow at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Kidney Association.

  1. Enjoyed playing cards many years at the Wayne Johnson Community Center. She was a very devoted Christian and will be missed by many.

  2. It’s hard to believe it’s almost been a year. She was too wonderful for words. I miss my GaGa, but will think of her fondly all of my life.
