Marie Dolores Hanks (Laly)
Marie Dolores Hanks (Laly) April 25, 1951 – June 9, 2025
Marie Dolores Hanks, lovingly known as “Laly,” passed away peacefully on June 9, 2025, at the age of 74 in Pearland, Texas. She was born on April 25, 1951, in Houston, Texas, to Susie and Tony Lopez, Sr.
Dolores was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 48 years, Gary D. Hanks; her parents, Susie and Dan Medina; her sister, Juanita Torres; and her brothers, Philip Lopez and Jessie Medina.
She is survived by her daughters, Cissy Michelle Vela (Jared), Kimberly Hanks, and Susanna Torres (Austin); her brothers, Tony Lopez, Jr. and Felix Medina (Norma); her cherished grandson, Michael Mejia (Candace); and her great-grandchildren, Trae, Jewelz, and Rion Mejia. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren from her husband’s family, all of whom she deeply loved as her own.
Marie lived a life of compassion, loyalty, and generosity. She was a true caretaker—not only to her family but to anyone in need. Throughout her life, she gave selflessly, offering care, comfort, and strength to countless loved ones and friends. Her heart was always open, and her home often was too.
She enjoyed many hobbies, but was especially passionate about golf and was an enthusiastic member of her bowling team. Above all, she cherished her time with her daughter Kim—the two were inseparable and never missed their daily tradition of watching “Wheel of Fortune” together.
There will be a visitation from 2:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. with a memorial service at 3:30 p.m. to honor Marie’s life on Friday, June 20, 2025, at Crowder Funeral Home, 2422 Broadway St, Pearland, TX 77581.
Marie’s love and devotion left an indelible mark on all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Our deepest condolences to Cissy, Kim and the rest of the family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. The Galaviz Family
