Luella Rac Elfstrom

elfstrom-luella-2016Luella Rac Elfstrom, 90, entered the church triumphant on Thursday, October 13, 2016.

She was born Luella Margaret Rac on April 16, 1926 in Galveston.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond A. Elfstrom; mother, Martha Rac Pozojevich; father, George Rac; step-father, Steve Pozojevich; brothers, Steve Rac, James “Jake” Rac, Julius Rac, Adolph Rac, and Russell Rac; sisters, Mary Terrebonne and Thelma Cormier.

She is survived by her sister, Leda Gipson and husband Sam.  Sons and “daughters”: Charles and Maggie Elfstrom, Raymond and Debbie Elfstrom, Russell and Gina Elfstrom, John and Natalie Elfstrom.  Grandchildren: Sean Elfstrom and fiance, Kristi Addlington; C. Scott Elfstrom and wife, Angie; Todd Elfstrom; Wendy Bardwell; Gina DeLaCerda and husband, Richie; Christi Elfstrom and fiance, Quyen Nguyen; Ryne Elfstrom and wife, Carrie; Keith Elfstrom; Nicole Hamilton and husband, Astin; Amanda Elfstrom.  Fourteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.  Numerous nieces, nephews, church family and friends.

Luella was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, serving as a charter member of Braille Workshop #52, member of the LWML, Ladies of Peace and sang in the choir.  She was a devoted servant of her Lord, a quality she generously passed on to her children.

Baptized, confirmed and married at St. John Lutheran Church in Galveston.  She moved to Texas City in 1951 with her husband and first two sons.  They lived in Texas City for the remainder of their lives.

Most of all she loved her Lord and her family, in that order.

A special thank you from her family to all the caregivers who treated her as family with love and compassion at the various hospitals, including personnel at Bayou Pines Care Center and AMed Hospice.

Visitation will be at James Crowder Funeral Home, 401 Texas Avenue, in La Marque on Monday, October 17, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.  Funeral Service will be at Peace Lutheran Church, 9111 E. F. Lowry Expwy., in Texas City on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at 11:00 am. Burial will be at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock.  The Officiant will be Pastor Matthew Brackman and Pallbearers will be her  grandsons, Sean Elfstrom, C. Scott Elfstrom, Todd Elfstrom, Ryne Elfstrom, Keith Elfstrom and her nephew, Ronnie Elfstrom.

In lieu of flowers you may make a memorial contribution to Peace Lutheran Church, 9111 E. F. Lowry Expressway, Texas City, Texas 77591 or to the Braille Workshop #52 in care of Peace Lutheran Church.
