Lt. Col. (Ret) Virginia (Ginny) W. Roby 73, of Webster, TX formally of Ledyard, CT & Flowery Branch, GA, passed away on Wednesday March 23, 2016 in Webster Texas.
She was born on May 12, 1942 in Fort Worth Texas to the late Robert and Virginia (Hamilton) Worden. Ginny is survived by her only child David M. Roby Jr. and his wife Alison (of Seabrook, TX), her grandchildren, Spencer (of Pasadena TX), Madison and Hannah (of Griswold, CT), Emily and her husband Zachary (of Seabrook, Texas) and their daughter, Keira, Jeffrey (of Waterford, CT) and Joshua (of Seabrook, TX).
Ginny married the late David M. Roby Sr. in Virginia June 1972. Although they divorced, the remained best of friends and traveling companions until David’s passing in 2005.
When her nation called she answered by joining the U.S. Navy and serving proudly for eight years. After being honorably discharged, she stayed home with David until he was 9 when she went back to serve her country, this time in the U.S. Army, where she completed an additional twelve years of service until retirement.
Ginny earned a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Development from McNeese State University in Lake Charles, LA.
Ginny had a passion for crafts, sewing, crossword puzzles and meeting new people.
A private service will be held at a later date. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Disabled American Veterans in Ginny’s name.
