Lottye Gilbert Chisam

Lottye Gilbert Chisam passed away peacefully on October 16, 2016 at the age of 96. She was born on August 26, 1920 in Groesbeck, Texas to Nora and John Gilbert. After graduating from Groesbeck High School, she met the love of her life, Charles Chisam, while working at the five and dime. He called Lottye his ‘Million Dollar Baby’. They married after a whirlwind courtship and had two daughters, Judith and Kasey. They raised their family in Hitchcock, Texas, where Lottye was a devoted mother and was heavily involved in her daughters’ activities. Once the girls were grown, she worked for the United States Postal Service and retired from the Hitchcock office in 1982. Her greatest joy in life was her family and she will be truly missed by all. Lottye is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years Charlie, parents Nora and John Gilbert, brother Joe Arley Gilbert, and sister Lucy Hickman. Lottye is survived by her daughters: Judith Butcher and Kasey Miller (Tom), niece Ann Threet, grandchildren: Andrea (Mike) Reina, Kathleen (Bobby) Vasquez, and Steven (Kristen) Butcher, and great-grandchildren: Brandon Reina, Chelsea Vasquez, Zachary Vasquez, Austin Reina, Pierson Bachman, and Mathew Reina. Celebration of her life will be Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 11:00 am, at St. Christopher Episcopal Church in League City.
