Karen Jean Cole

Karen Jean Cole, 72, of Houston, TX, formerly of Dickinson, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on January 8, 2025, after a hard-fought
battle with cancer.

Born to Bill and Dorthais “Dot” Cooke on November 6th, 1952 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Karen was raised in Dickinson with her five siblings, forming many life long bonds along the way.

A loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Karen’s devotion to her
family and friends left a lasting impact on all who knew her. As a mother, she was a loyal protector and constant source of support, nurturing her children with love and care while imparting the values taught to her by her parents. Her legacy lives on in the families they’ve built. As a grandmother, Karen found joy in the laughter and growth of her grandchildren, cherishing every moment with them.

For over four decades, Karen was a trusted expert in the title industry. She was
known for her exceptional work ethic, focus, and drive. She was highly regarded as
someone always willing to go above and beyond what was required of her. In so
doing, she demonstrated an unwavering dedication and trustworthiness that
cultivated many professional relationships which in turn, grew into many close
friendships in the realty and title businesses.

Karen is preceded in death by her father, Billy Joe Cooke, and her mother, Dorthais
Thadena Cooke.

She leaves behind to cherish and honor her memory: daughter Amanda Nelson
and son-in-law Elijah, their children Mina Bilek, Mavis Bilek, and Bryson Nelson;
son David Cotton and daughter-in-law Jeannie, and their sons Jace, Joel, Jonah,
and Seth.

Additionally, Karen leaves behind her siblings and their families, who are cherished
beyond measure:

Dennis and Kathy Cooke
Billy and Marsha Cooke
Wade and Joyce Cooke

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 18, 2025, at
Crowder Funeral Home, 851 FM 517 Road West, Dickinson, TX 77539
