Jewel Dean Jones

Jewel Dean Jones departed her earthly body on Sunday, December 16,2018, in League City, Texas, to be with loved ones who predeceased her including husband, Clyde Edward Jones, daughters, Linda Diane Thoren and Judy Lynn Flanagan, sisters, Irene Hoagland, Lorene Nichols, Sue Sims and brother, Charles Hallman.

Jewel was born on January 11, 1929 to Newton and Martha Hallman in Birmingham, Alabama.  She married Clyde Jones, the love of her life, on May 28, 1960.  Jewel and her two young girls followed Clyde during his Air Force career to live in Germany and many state-side locations.

She is survived by granddaughter Stephanie Scruggs (Anne), great grandchildren Xander and Gray; grandson Stephen Scruggs (Jennifer) great grandchildren Riley, Lance, Caden, Makenzie and Braylon; son-in-law, Lamar Flanagan; sisters, Shirley Statam and Mavis Dale, and many nieces and nephews.

While living in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, Jewel worked at and retired from the Eglin Federal Credit Union.  She was active in the Elkettes and the Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority.  For many years, she volunteered her time in support of Saint Jude Children’s hospital.

The family will receive Jewel’s friends at Crowder Funeral Home, 1645 East Main Street, League City, Texas 77573, on Friday, December 21, 2018 from 10:00AM – 12:00PM.  Private interment will follow at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038.

The family wishes to thank both Heart to Heart Hospice personnel and staff and residents at Regal Estates of League City for their kindness and friendship during Jewel’s time there.
