Jeanne Ehrhardt Goode

Jeanne Goode
Feb. 23, 1928 – December 14, 2025

Jeanne Ehrhardt Goode, 97, of Nassau Bay, Texas passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 14, 2025, after a short illness. Christened as Alice Jeanne Ehrhardt, she was born on February 23, 1928, in Fairfield, Iowa, the daughter of Roy and Margery Ehrhardt. A sister, Jacquelyn Stecker, and a brother, Kenneth Ehrhardt, preceded her in death. She was a graduate of Iowa State University. In February 1949 she married Cleon Goode of Albia, Iowa. She lived in Fairfield, Iowa until moving to the Clear Lake area in 1968.
Jeanne joined the faculty of Whitcomb Elementary School in Clear Lake City in 1968 as the new school was opening. She was a much-beloved first grade teacher at Whitcomb for twenty-five years. In 1994 she retired from public school teaching and then put her considerable teaching experience to supporting the early years of Westminster Academy in Webster, Texas. Teaching first-graders at Westminster Academy allowed her to fully combine her Christian faith and her joy in teaching. At the time of her death Jeanne was still an active friend with students from some of her first-grade classes so many years ago.

She is survived by her eight children, fourteen grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren: Barbara Goode (Ed Cavagnaro and Elizabeth, Scot, Mia and Owen Birmingham), Lloyd Goode, Kathy Wolfe (William Wolfe and Anna, Daniel, Reagan, Peyton and Dylan Higgins), Marilyn Satterfield (Stephanie and Chris Duckworth, Megan and Anthony Dahl, Jacob Mullins and Alexis, Mila and Piper Mullins; Lane Mullins; Kaitlyn Satterfield and Evan Thompson; James Satterfield and Jameson Satterfield), John Goode (John, Mandi and John Goode; Andrew Goode and Lindsey, Drew, Owen and Corbin; Matthew Gillentine and Amanda Jo, Raylee, Amelia and Emberly), Janice Ainbinder (Criss Loven, Jon and Jaylynn Glenn; Jason Ainbinder and Renee Ainbinder; Jackie Ainbinder and Kevin Eager, Hudson, Dylan and Julian), Charles Goode and David, Julie Goode (Jennifer Seeger and Lucas, Caleb and Mason Seeger; Samantha and Jay Norwood). One grandson preceded her in death. This obituary cannot begin to describe the depth of her love for her family, and her family’s devotion to her.

Jeanne had an abiding, life-long Christian faith that she found first in the small country church in the farming community in Jefferson County, Iowa where she was raised. Her faith informed her entire life; she was an active church member her entire life. She was a proud founding member of Good Shepherd Church in League City, Texas. She was especially committed to her Wednesday Bible-study group.

In no order of importance, Jeanne loved good company, reading and sharing books with her book club, traveling with friends from her years as a teacher, family activities that included more than 60 years of cheering at children’s sports, board games, card games, Sudoku, gardening, quilting, knitting, embroidering, baking, decorating her house for Christmas, and meeting and making friends for coffee, especially including all the friends she made at the Java Owl Coffee House in Nassau Bay.. But perhaps most of all, her friends and family will remember her nurturing countless generations of monarch butterflies.

A funeral service for Jeanne Goode will be held at 2PM, January 24 at Good Shepherd Church, 3151 FM Road 518, East, League City, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, Jeanne can be remembered by a donation to Good Shepherd Church or to a monarch butterfly preservation fund such as the Monarch Butterfly Fund, https://monarchconservation.org.
