James L. Strickland

James L. Strickland, of League City, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at the age of 62.  He was born in Lafayette, Louisiana on October 19, 1958.

Jim loved his family and Our Lord and Savior with all of his heart.  He believed strongly that Jesus should be first in his life and wanted to share God’s love with others.

Jim attended Centenary College on a golf scholarship.  After college, he entered the oil field and had a long, successful career ending as a Chief Operating Officer.  His desire was always to support, and invest in, the people that worked with him and alongside him.

As an accomplished golfer, two of his biggest accolades were winning the Cotton States Invitational at Bayou DeSiard Country Club in Monroe, Louisiana and the Louisiana Open.  In fact, he is one of a handful of amateurs to have won!  During retirement, he most enjoyed coaching and playing golf with his sons-in-law and grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jana, of 39 years; daughter, Ashley Greener (Blake) of Katy, Texas; daughter, Sara Kennedy (Steven) of Kingwood, Texas; his beloved grandchildren Evelyn Kennedy, Sullivan Kennedy, and Ellie Greener; mother, Betty Strickland; sisters, Nadia and Suzanne Strickland; mother-in-law, Sybil Dupuis.  He is preceded in death by his father, James A. Strickland and father-in-law, D.J. Dupuis.

A Grave Side Ceremony will be held on Friday, October 15, 2021 at 11:00am at Forest Park East Cemetery, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598.

In loving memory of Jim, the family requests for those in attendance to wear your favorite golf shirt.

  4. No golf shirt for me Jimmy, sorry not my thing – but I hope you have your pick of shirts in Heaven and the golfing is more than you ever dreamed it would be. We will miss you. To your sweet family, my dear friends – he was a good man, dedicated father – and grandfather, loving husband. I always enjoyed the spunk and wit he expressed in our conversations over the years. His health battle was long, I know this was hard to watch, pray you are finding peace with his passing – for we know there is no sting of death when you are a believer for this earthly life is just temporary, he is Home now for eternity. We celebrate your life Jimmy, You!

  15. Devastating news. I spoke with him a couple of months ago and we paid out a plan to
Meet later this year. I always joked with him about his name calling him Jimmy, Jimster, Jimbo and Jim-Bob. Enjoyed my days working with him at Expro. Class act and will be dearly missed. RIP Jim.

  16. Jana-
So sorry to hear of Jimmy’s passing. Prayers out to you and the family through this difficult time. I was so glad Jimmy reached out to me after some 41 years. We played golf together back in High School and it was as though it was just yesterday, such a crazy bond. I enjoyed our conversations this past year, always grateful for his many blessings in life as he battled his health. He even gave me a virtual golf swing analysis from his hospital bed. Good therapy at the time for both of us I think. Jimmy was a good man, caring, God loving and truly loved you. He always mentioned your strength and love. May you find comfort knowing that he Rests in Peace!
    God Bless

  18. I really thought my brother was going to win his battle with this disease. He fought hard as did his wife. They walked in faith, and prayed as naturally as breathing about it.
The support they had from their daughters, and other wonderful family, and friends on and on and on amaze. Prayers oh Prayers oh Prayers.
I really thought my brother was going to still be here on this earth. But I was wrong. I am sad today and there are no words to express it. But I am also comforted.

Jimmy is enjoying a nice round of golf about now. God is good.

  19. Beautiful service. Blake did such a wonderful job speaking. Uncle Jimmy will be missed. My heart aches for his precious grand babies, my two sweet cousins and my Aunt Jana. I pray for peace and comfort for the immediate family and all that loved him. What a great man. He is now with my Papa, his dad, playing the best golf course in heaven. I find comfort in that. Prayers.
