Gerald “Jerry” Thomas Wobbe

Gerald “Jerry” Thomas Wobbe, died Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at St. Dominic’s Village (SDV) in Houston where he was an active participant in many campus activities and was the baritone in the SDV choir.  Born September 2, 1947 in Springfield, Ohio, to the late Erica Wobbe and the late Lt. Col. Roger L. Wobbe, he graduated with a master’s degree in Special Education Diagnostics from the University of Houston.  He was a proud, long time member of the Knights of Columbus as well as an active volunteer with St. Bernadette’s parish and St. Dominic’s Village.

He is known to his friends and family for being a gentle soul.

Jerry truly loved his all too short time at St. Dominique’s Village and was a popular fellow around the campus. He will miss his many, many friends he easily made at SDV and requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the SDV Fund so that they can continue their mission of “Caring for our Elders”.

Gerald is survived by his brothers and their wives, Raymond C. and Gail Lawson Wobbe of Irvington, NY, and Paul L. and Ann Schachtel Wobbe of Houston, TX, and his niece, Dr. Heather Marie Wobbe of Cleveland, OH.

We will all miss your smiling face and good humor, Jerry.  Go with God.

Fr. Robert Barras will celebrate his Requiem Mass at St. Dominic’s Village, 2401 E. Holcombe Blvd. Houston, TX 77021 on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at 10:30 AM.

  1. My heartfelt condolences to the Wobbe family. The death of a loved one is so hard to bear. During times of distress our heavenly Father lovingly assures us “I will really hold on to you with my right hand of righteousness.” (Isa. 41:10) May the God of all comfort be with you at this difficult time. (2 Cor.1:3, 4)

  2. To Jerry’s family, I am very sorry for your great loss, and it truly is a great loss to many!
Jerry was my best friend for over twenty years and we worked together for over ten of those years. He was my encourager in all things, my cheerleader in all my endeavors, my benefactor throughout my years of health compromises and needs, and often my closest companion. He was the kindest person I know and I enjoyed the camaraderie we shared, including all his funny jokes and comical expressions. He was also very good to my son, who is now an adult and was only a lttle boy when he came into our lives. Of course I miss him enormously and I am deeply saddened by his departure in this life, but I have the most wonderul memories to cherish beyond time. Most significantly, I wholeheartedly believe that he is happily with our Lord Jesus Christ, enjoying his new life with great Joy! We shared our faith together and bonded spiritually forever. Until I see you then Jerry, I will not say goodbye, buth rather, “Save that bottle of heavenly wine for our reunion.”
“The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh, and blessed be the name of the Lord!”
    Amen.

  3. My condolences to Jerry’s family. Jerry was a kind and gentle person and was very generous to me and my mother Maria. I am very thankful for his presence in my life and the contributions he made to my life and livelihood. I’m sure that he touched many people in his life that can echo a similar sentiment. Such is the measure of greatness in character.
