GEORGIA LOU COX CHAMBERLAIN

GEORGIA LOU COX CHAMBERLAIN, age 85 of Santa Fe, Texas, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at Serenity Garden in Dickinson, Texas. Georgia was born on June 24, 1936 in Drumright, Oklahoma to Donald and Ophelia Cox.  She graduated from High School in Holliday, Texas in 1954.  She married her high school sweetheart, Jack Dee Chamberlain, on March 9, 1955 in Holliday, Texas and they enjoyed 27 wonderful years together before his death on September 29, 1982.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband; brother, Ronnie Cox; son, Micheal D. Chamberlain; granddaughter, Tamera Chamberlain; and grandson, Shane Proctor. She is survived by her sister, Mary Cox Diesker (Tommy), Sister-in-law, Patsy Cox; sons Troy Lee Chamberlain (Brenda) and Roy Kent Chamberlain (Sharon); daughter-in-law Brenda Chamberlain, and grandsons Jackie Chamberlain (Heather); Clifford Chamberlain (Brooke); Shondell Morris (Jay); and greatgrandchildren (13); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Georgia was baptized as a member of the United Methodist Church in Archer City, Texas.  In her work life, she held positions as a bank teller, postal worker, bookkeeper, and school/college administrator.

It was nothing for Georgia to bowl a 300 on any given night and she loved getting gussied up to go dancing with her friends.  The family cherishes some of the beautiful canvas paintings that she did in oils, and her flower beds and yard were the envy of the neighborhood.  She loved a good book, gambling, cruising, and traveling.  Her joy was cooking her favorite meals and spending time with her sons and their families.  She was an avid fisherwoman and hunter and always went with Jack and the boys to their fish camp and deer blinds.

The family will take their mother to her final resting place at Rosemont Cemetery in Wichita Falls, Texas at a future date following her cremation.

Our family’s heartfelt thanks go out to the owners & staff of Serenity Gardens Memory Care Facility in Dickinson, Texas; UTMB Geriatrics House Calls; MyNurse Home Health Care and Village Home Health & Hospice who took care of and loved mom as their own.  Our deepest love and appreciation to all our family and friends whose prayers and help got us through our difficult times.

  4. Kent and Troy. Your mom was truly special as your dad was and is! I spent many days and nights with y’all and can always remember your parents as role models for anyone’s life and of course can’t ever forget her cooking. Mike also is remembered in this manner as you know full well he has done many things for us all. Never forget that awesome paint job on the old 56 Chevy. Your mom is a great part of all of this and you can count it all joy that God gave her to your family for a season.
