George Montriville “Monty” Thomas

George Montriville (“Monty”) Thomas, 59, of Texas City, Texas, passed this life on July 22, 2017, following complications of respiratory illness.

The funeral service will be held at Crowder Funeral Home, 111 Medical Center Blvd., Webster, Texas 77598 at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 26, 2017. Visitation will precede the service starting at 9:00am. A brief graveside service will follow the funeral at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.

Monty was born in Galveston, Texas on June 9, 1958. After graduating from Texas City High School, he applied his creative gift and skill as an auto body craftsman and painter. Monty enjoyed golf, fishing and rooting for the Dallas Cowboys.

Monty is survived by his parents, John D. and Nina M. Thomas, his sister, Cheryl Lyman, her two children, his brother, Michael Thomas, his six children, two great nieces and one great nephew, and other family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be given to the Brain Injury Association of Texas or the brain trauma research and rehabilitation organization of their choice. Monty’s family wishes to thank the numerous caregivers, nurses and doctors who attended to Monty’s care and needs over the years.
