Everett Lee (Chuck) Cannon

Everett Lee (Chuck) Cannon, 77, a longtime resident of Alvin, Texas, died peacefully at his home, after attending Sunday Church, with his loving wife by his side on June 11, 2017.  Chuck was born November 22, 1939, to John and Nancy Cannon in Edna, Texas. He was a loyal member of the Heights Baptist Church.  Chuck served proudly in the US Air Force, loved his country, and was proud to be a veteran.  He loved RVing and traveling across the country; he was an avid fisherman and a great outdoorsman and served with the Volunteer Christian Builders. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters George (Ed) Cannon, JT Cannon, Bonnie Ray Cannon, Pauline Saludis, Cora Ashwood, Mary Gibson, Emily Scott, Gertrude Thigpen, Betty McBride and nephew Melvin W. James, Jr.

Chuck is survived by his loving and caring wife of 34 years, Cherlyn F. Cannon; his children, John Cannon, Terri Vial and husband Mike Vial, Ginger Cannon, and Barbara Ellis; his loving sisters, Margaret James and husband Melvin, and Birdie Goodman and husband Charles; grandchildren, Ashley Cannon, Matthew Vial, Anna Vial, Shelby Cannon, Taylor Cannon, and Jacob Cannon; great-grandchildren Jesscilynn Hampshire and Luke Shelby; niece Mary Scrubbs and husband George; nephew Michael James and wife Letha; and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.  He was a loving husband, father, grand-father, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

A memorial service in his honor will be held 11:00 am, Thursday, June 15, 2017, at the Heights Baptist Church, Alvin, Texas, with a memorial visitation prior 9:30 am – 11:00 am.

  6. Uncle Chuck was like a big brother to me. From playing football together in Jr. high school to fishing, spending Sundays watching football and all those conversations about Jesus and the bible in our later years. I will miss him but I will be there on those golden streets with him some day soon.
