Evelyn C. Gassdorf

Evelyn C. Gassdorf, 76, of Texas, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on October 18, 2025.

Evelyn was born on March 22, 1949, in Springfield, Illinois, to Evelyn Handshy. She married the love of her life, Richard Lee Gassdorf, on March 22, 1974. Together they shared many happy years before his passing on June 26, 1992.

In 1988, Evelyn and Richard moved their family to Texas, where they built their home and created a lifetime of cherished memories.

 

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Richard Lee Gassdorf, her mother Evelyn Handshy, and her sisters Doris Arn, Leona Sullivan, and Joyce McAllister.

She is survived by her sister Shirley Bald of Chicago, Illinois; her half-brother Bob Handshy of Mattoon, Illinois; and her three loving children: Amanda Gassdorf Scott and husband Richard Scott, and her children Savannah Wilkinson and husband William Wilkinson, Allyson Edworthy, and Trevor Edworthy, along with great-grandchildren Daisy, Wyatt, and Presley. Kimberlee Drascula and husband Robert Drascula, and their children Tristian Drascula, Jensen Drascula, and Garrett Drascula. Richard Jacob Gassdorf and wife Brandie Gassdorf, Richard’s children Hazelynn Krak and Richard Patrick Gassdorf, as well as Brandie’s children Brie, Donald, and Bella, and two great-grandchildren.

Evelyn was the head of her family and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for family and friends.
