Ethel Marie Holstein, 81, passed away on December 31, 2023 in Texas City, TX.  She was born in Galveston, TX to Murray and Lillian Franklin. Marie was a lifelong resident of Galveston County and a member of St. Mary of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church in Texas City. She worked as a Histology Tech at several hospitals throughout her career. In her spare time, Marie was as a member of the church Altar Society, a Master Gardener and she spent time volunteering at prisons and local food banks.

Marie is preceded in death by her parents; husband James T. Holstein “Buddy”; sister: Diane Spillers and two brothers: Joseph Franklin and Charles Franklin.  She is survived by her two daughters: Kelly Bonner and Theo Szurek (Gary); grandchildren: Brittany Meade (Stephan), Matthew Bonner, and Logan Bonner; great-grandchildren: Arianna Bonner, Isaiah Trujillo, Isabella Trujillo, and Blake Bonner and her cousin: Mary McGarity.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm with a vigil at 6:00pm.  A funeral service will  held on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at 10:00am at the James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque.Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Dickinson.
