Elida Montemayor Schlitzberger

Elida Montemayor Schlitzberger

November 30, 1946 – May 1, 2026

Elida Montemayor Schlitzberger, born November 30, 1946, in Galveston, Texas, went home to be with Jesus on May 1, 2026, in New Braunfels, Texas.

Elida was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tommy Lawrence Schlitzberger; her grandsons, Joshua Alan Exner and Thomas Jared Hanna; and her son-in-law, John Tracey Stanley.

She is survived by her loving children: Ingrid (Tracy) Hanna, David (Elizabeth) Schlitzberger, Thomas (Shara) Schlitzberger, Jr., and Wensday (Eugene) Stanley Komar.

She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Andrea Brown, Joseph Exner, Travis Stanley, Jordan (Jennifer) Taylor, Bethany Stanley, Shelby Hanna, Nicholette (Jaime) Navarro, Madalyn Schlitzberger, Grace Stanley, Nathan Schlitzberger, Kylee Crites, Chase Schlitzberger, and Kenzie Crites.

Elida was blessed with great-grandchildren: Stormy Stanley, Jaclynn Exner, Nevaeh Ortiz, Thomas Hanna, Jr., Aliyah Taylor, Ethan Exner, Jaime Navarro, Jr., Avory Taylor, and Walker Taylor; and great-great-granddaughter, Autumn Redding.

Elida was born and raised in Galveston, where she attended Ursuline Academy. After graduation, she worked in the county clerk’s office until she met Tommy. They married and moved to Houston, where they raised their family.

Elida and Tommy spent many joyful years camping, creating lifelong friendships and treasured memories along the way. They were truly the “hostess with the mostest,” known for their amazing parties and for never letting anyone leave hungry. Elida especially loved to cook and bake for family and friends, always making sure everyone felt welcomed and cared for.

She had a deep love for singing and dancing, especially to country and worship music. Her joy for life and her faith were evident to all who knew her.

While we will miss her dearly, we rejoice in knowing she is in Heaven, singing and dancing with Jesus.

There will be a celebration of life, 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Crowder Funeral Home, 2422 E Broadway St. Pearland, TX 77581.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org

  2. Elida was a great neighbor & opened her home to feed all her neighbors. She enjoyed sitting outdoors and visit with those that came by. We truly missed her when she moved from Natchez Landing. ALL neighbors gained by knowing her and her generous lifestyle. Her as an exceptional person will truly be missed.

Elida was a one of a kind woman and “Oma” and will be truly, deeply missed. May her and Tommy share many dances in paradise.
