Donna J. Culpepper
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donna J. Culpepper. She was born on January 5, 1941, and left us on March 25, 2026. Donna lived a life defined by hard work and a legendary sense of humor.
She was a proud retiree with 22 years of service at Santa Fe ISD, where she served many children meals in the cafeteria with a smile on her face. Many locals also remember her from her second job in the bakery department at Big Chief. Donna’s greatest pride was her family and beloved pets. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, the love of her life, Doug Culpepper. Together, they built a legacy through their children: Wilbert Siemsen (Dawn), Michael Siemsen (Bob), Diane Gall (Ricky), Clairelle Culpepper (Joey), Virginia Engelbosch, and Joseph Culpepper (Heather).
As a grandmother and great-grandmother, Donna cherished visits from her ten grandchildren—Elizabeth, Meagan, Samantha (Luis), Megan, Madilyn, Ricky (Gracie), Emily, Stephen, Jaidyn, and Isabella—and her five great-grandchildren—Myla, Scarlett, Hudson, Reedleigh, and Laykleigh. She also leaves behind her 10-year-old cat, “Wilbur,” and her grand-cat, “Lucky.”
Donna loved spoiling many pets over her lifetime, and her animals lived long lives with her; one of her cats lived to be 18 years old. She was a proud lifetime SPCA member. Whether she was making us laugh or visiting with her grandkids, Donna was always smiling and giving love. She will be deeply missed.
“I’ve closed my eyes
and fallen asleep
So, there’s no reason
for you to weep.
This is a debt
we all must pay
but it is a sweet
and peaceful way.
I’ve endured pain
and sometime sorrow,
now I don’t have to worry
about tomorrow.
But life for you must go on;
you must not worry
because I’m gone.
You stood beside me
all the way
when I was down
you knew what to say.
You always told me
to get some rest,
let me sleep now,
I’ve done my best.
So please now let me
rest in peace,
the tears you’re shedding
soon will cease
You’ll soon realize
that this was meant to be,
Because GOD came for me.”

A beautiful obituary to a beautiful person. She was always so sweet to talk to and loved her family. It was good to get to know her when we would visit in her home with Claire growing up at Hitchcock First Baptist Church. I know you will all miss her and her smile. Sincerely,
