Deacon Michael Wayne Wheeler

Deacon Michael Wayne Wheeler was born on November 23, 1958 to the late Leonard Brown Wheeler and Gertrude McCall Howlsey in Shreveport, LA. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age under the leadership of Pastor Hughes at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church where he was also baptized in the early 80’s. He moved from Louisiana to Texas in 1983 where he went to work for The City of League City and later retired after 30 long years. He was re-baptized in 2011 at Mount Olive Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Amos C. Sowell Pastor. In 2014 he became a member of Life Church in Dickinson, Tx under the leadership of Pastor Lacy B. Houston Sr. where he faithfully served until he transitioned.

He was preceded in death by his father Leonard Brown Wheeler his mother Gertrude McCall Howlsey, two brothers, William T. Wheeler ( Terry) and Bishop Carey D. McCall ( Big Man)

He was united in holy matrimony to Estanislada Cantu Wheeler (Connie) on March 9, 2010. This union was blessed with 9 children. His memories will forever be cherished by his wife Estanislada Wheeler (Connie) of League City, Tx; children, Charles Rodriguez, Audra Tyson (Kourtenie) of League City, Tx, Michael Rodriguez (Tiffany) of Houston, Tx, Mario Rodriguez (Shea) of Bay View, Tx, Michael Pouncy of Shreveport, La, Christopher Rodriguez Sr (Rene) of Santa Fe, Tx, Sonia Rodriguez, Jason Farmer and Trishauna Wheeler of Dickinson, Tx; thirty three grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; his siblings, James Wheeler (Kelli), Alice Mitchell (Adolph), Anita Efferson (Roosevelt) of League City, Tx, Kevin McCall (Lachanda) of Shreveport, La, Edith Bell McCall of League City, Tx and Regina Williams of Hitchcock, Tx, and two uncle’s; Joseph McCall (Virginia) of Shreveport, La, and David McCall of League City, Tx and a host of niece’s and nephews and friend’s and family…..

The Family will receive friends on Friday, November 16, 2018 from 5-9:00pm at Crowder Funeral Home, 1645 East Main, League City, Texas 77573. A Funeral Ceremony will be held on Saturday at 11:00am at Greater New Hope Missionary Church, 1725 Hwy 3, Dickinson, Texas 77539 with Pastor Lacy Houston officiating. Interment will follow the Ceremony at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Dickinson, Texas.
