David Sumner Osborn

David Sumner Osborn, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on May 29, 2024, in Houston, TX. Born to Edna Mae Wright and Donald Sumner Osborn in Harlingen, TX on July 15, 1948, David was a true Texas native through and through. His life and legacy are deeply interwoven with the family and friends he loved and served.

‍David’s early years were shared with his siblings, Dona and Debbie, creating a tapestry of memories filled with laughter and camaraderie. After completing high school at Harlingen High School, he moved to Austin where he attended the University of Texas and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration.

Professionally, David joined his father, Donald Osborn at Leon C. Osborn Co., Inc. to work for the family business his grandfather started in 1941 and led the company through its closing in 2019.

In 1969, David married his highschool sweetheart, Deanna Todd. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and the joyous daily life of raising their three children: Amy, Mark, and Laura. David and Deanna shared a fulfilling, supportive, and loving relationship for 54 beautiful years.

David’s legacy is also carried on by his adored grandchildren: Isabella, Noah, Cecilia, Lucas, and Landis. Each of them will remember their grandfather for his boundless generosity, hilarious “dad” jokes, love of sweets for breakfast, cheering them on from the sidelines, and sharing with them his love for life.

Predeceased by his parents, David’s memory is honored and kept alive by his loving wife Deanna, his children, his cherished grandchildren, his sisters Dona and Debbie, and a host of nieces and nephews.‍

A service to celebrate David’s life will be held at St Bernadette’s Catholic Church, 15500 El Dorado, Houston, TX 77062 at 10:30 am on Thursday, June 6th.

    • Deanna and family. Words cannot say enough about such a devoted and loving father, husband and grandfather. Having been his business room mate for almost 40 years he was a true friend who we loved dearly. We have so many memories with your girls babysitting Kate when they were in high school to seeing them grow up with families of their own. Dave was so proud of them all and loved you all so much. We will miss him, but memories are with us all forever. Our heartfelt condolences are with you all at this very sad time. We love you all.
