Dave Doyle Ferguson, Jr.,

Dave Doyle Ferguson, Jr., a resident of Pearland, Texas, passed away suddenly March 03, 2020. Dave was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on September 23, 1955.

Dave spent most of his childhood and teens in Mineola, Texas, where he graduated from Mineola High School in 1974. He played football, baseball, and basketball all through high school and was elected “Mr. MHS” in his senior year.

Dave received his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University in 1980. He was Resident Advisor and Head Resident Advisor for Walton Hall at Northgate on the campus. He participated in the co-op program for engineering students to help pay his way through school.

Dave worked for 36 years in the petrochemical industry and was an acknowledged world expert on troubleshooting chemical processes. Dave’s career took him many places throughout the world, and he loved discovering the people and places wherever he traveled. He worked out of offices in Toronto, Canada; Rotterdam, The Netherlands; and twice in Billingham, England.

Dave was an avid fisherman, and spent one week each May with family and friends fishing on Lake Tawakoni in northeast Texas. He loved to work with his hands, and enjoyed puttering around in his shop in the back yard.

He also enjoyed bringing home examples of the money from the places he visited and collected coins and banknotes from all over the world.

He was an avid reader, and could often been seen with a book—or in recent years, his e-reader—in his hands. He enjoyed Science Fiction in both printed and video media. The Star Trek franchise of TV shows and movies were his favorite, but were by no means the only shows he watched. He also loved Westerns, and many a time you could find a John Wayne movie playing early on a Saturday morning.

Dave grew up a Dallas Cowboys fan, and that love of the team never wavered. He embraced the Aggie Spirit and would be sure to watch Aggie football whenever he could. He quickly became an Astros fan when he moved to the Houston area after graduating from A&M, and embraced the Texans football team (except when they played Dallas).

Dave leaves behind his wife of 40 years, Marie Ferguson; son, Andrew Ferguson; sister, Vickie Kiefer, husband Paul; brother, Dean Ferguson, wife Denise; sister-in-law Lisa Nunez, husband Alan; brother-in-law Robert Sangster, wife Debra; nephews: Kevin Ferguson, Brandon Nunez, Zackery Nunez, Spencer Sangster, Steffen Sangster, Austin Sangster; nieces: Amanda Reynolds, Megan Reynolds; great nephews: Nathan Sangster, Noah Ferguson; great niece, Bayleigh Ferguson.

Dave will be remembered fondly by friends and family and those many others whose lives he touched.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Crowder Funeral Home in Pearland.
