Cornelia “Connie” Marie Corkill

In Loving Memory of Cornelia “Connie” Marie Corkill ~ September 27, 1950 – May 11, 2025

Connie Marie (Tamburin) Corkill, 74, Houston, Texas, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother (CiCi), passed away surrounded by the love of her family. Connie brought light into every room she entered – with her big hair, booming voice, electric energy, and even bigger heart. Her vivacious spirit, warm hugs, and joyful laugh were signature traits that made her unforgettable to all who knew her.

She was a proud cheerleader and 1968 graduate of Ingleside High School, growing up in the South Texas coastal area. She also received a cosmetology degree and license from Del Mar College.

Connie dedicated her life to her family, friends, and her community. Whether she was cheering from the sidelines, volunteering at local schools, or pouring her heart into her passion for arts and crafts, she did it all with unmatched energy and grace. Her creative spark lit up countless craft shows through her business, “Connie’s Cuties,” where each piece told a story of love and laughter.

She was joined in marriage on June 26, 1971 to Rogers Corkill, the love of her life, and he survives. They celebrated 54 wonderful years together. Also surviving are their cherished sons: Roger Corkill II, Josh Corkill (Monica), and Nick Corkill (Marita). CiCi was a proud, doting grandmother to her treasured grandchildren: Isabelle and Luke of Castle Rock, Colorado; Max, Kaylee, Miles, and Kendall Marie of League City, Texas.

Connie also leaves behind her siblings: Stephanie Caraker (Charlie), Anthony Tamburin, Linda Julos, Alma Cartwright, and Vincent Tamburin, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins, who she adored. She is reunited in eternal peace with her loving parents, Anthony Sam Tamburin and Shirley Ann Wyatt Tamburin, and her dear stepmother, Clara Jacoby Tamburin.

To know Connie was to love her – and to be loved by Connie was to be truly blessed. Her legacy of joy, generosity, and sparkle will live on through the many lives she touched.

In lieu of flowers, Connie’s heartfelt wish was for friends and family to honor her by donating blood at their local blood bank—offering the precious gift of life to those in need.

A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, June 8, 2025, from 1pm – 5pm at Ashton Gardens 18002 Clay Rd Houston, Texas 77084
(come and go as you please)

  3. With 54 years of precious Connie memories, where do I start? I can almost hear Con saying, “Well that’s another chapter to add to our book”! This beautiful book of memories started when we worked together at the Hair Salon in Corpus. Next came baby showers, hauling our kids around while we antiqued, kid’s parties, bridal showers, weddings and always lots of picture taking, where holding a prop was mandatory! Through many moves, we never went long between visits. Connie would come with her car loaded and went home hauling much more, after purchasing stuff to remake for her craft shows. Connie had so much love & pride for Roger and the family…grandkids were tops! Connie lived, loved and laughed to the fullest. Connie is best friend. Best book written. She blessed my life and my family. Love, Lez

  4. I have been trying to pick out a memory of Connie that stands out more than others.
But after 45 years of friendship there are literally thousands! However, Connie did have a love of Slots!!! In the early 2000s we started trekking to Lake Charles La. Isle of Capri was a favorite in the beginning. Connie had her favorite machines, and whoa to anyone she found playing them when she arrived. There was a favorite of hers downstairs at Isle. We arrived and someone was playing on it. In her ” not so low voice” she made known to this person than that wasn’t acceptable. And it worked. They moved and she sat down. Nothing kept her from having her slots fun.
I remember pushing her around in a wheel chair on one of our visits. As we perfected our slots playing, we moved on to L’auberge. Now we were getting free rooms so groups of us were going. Our overnight stays extended to three day stays with floating the lazy river on day 2. We eventually included Coushata and Golden Nugget in our LA visits. There was a ritual to our visits too. We always stopped in Beaumont to eat at Cracker Barrel…yelled whoo hoo when we crossed the Texas/Louisiana border spot on the bridge, and she always had Waffles for breakfast…and of course, what happened in Lake Charles stayed in Lake Charles!
Connie, I know you are sitting at a winning machine up in Heaven now..hitting 777s! We will miss you and love you forever, keeping all our thousands of “Connie” memories in our hearts! Till we meet again…WHOO HOO!!!

  5. So many fond memories of my dear Swim Chick Connie. She always brought fun and laughter to our classes. Never forget the cruise she went on with us and on our first day snorkeling Connie shows up as typical Connie with dangle pink earrings, pink bow and pink lipstick and pink sunglasses ! She was always so much fun. We will miss her but I know she is in the holy swimming pool in heaven exercising away. Love you Connie💕

  6. My Dear Aunt Connie
The Aunt I’ve been told I’m so much alike! She was full of life, vibrant colors, loved to have a good time, took the pictures for memories, brought all the family together for a crazy game of canasta, loved holidays with every inch of the house decorated and the list goes on! I enjoyed many childhood memories coming up to Houston to stay weeks of hanging out doing all the adventures she had planned for us! She loved having my sister and I because we were the girls she never had! Connie could fill a room with laughter! We’re naturally a loud family but it was always more entertaining with Connie in the room! She always had a small gift for the kids or grandkids. She thought of everyone all the time! She loved life and she lives it with full heart! God I’m going to miss her! I’m going to make you proud Aunt Connie! I have a different perspective on living because of you! Every picture I take or decoration I put up, you’ll be on the mind! Thank you! I wish I would’ve spent more time with you in this crazy busy life! I’ll do more tea parties with big hats! Keep bringing more women together to play bunko, pool parties, canasta, & just have a good time! I love you! I miss you! Goodbye Aunt Connie!
