Cindy Martin Mora

In His endless Mercy and inexhaustible compassion, GOD sent His angels to bring Cindy back to Him on Sunday, February 27, 2022. On March 28, 1949, God gave us the gift of Cindy as the second child of Emmy and Gordon Martin, and grew up on the Reitmeyer Ranch in Hitchcock, Texas.

Cindy graduated from Dominican High School in Galveston in 1967, and then from Lamar University in Beaumont. After graduation, Barber’s Hill I.S.D. in Mont Belvieu, Texas, received a Blessing through
“Ms. Martin,” who excelled as a teacher and coach of girls’ sports at the Jr. High School.

In 1975, Cindy returned home and started her career with the Galveston County District Clerk’s Office. There she attained the position of Office Manager before she was selected by Judge David Garner to serve as his first Coordinator for the 10th Judicial District Court, until her retirement in 2003.

Preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Emmy (Reitmeyer) Martin, is survived by her five sisters: Ruth Marie, Kathy Sue, Mary Jeanne, Nancye Lee and Elizabeth Anne (Betsy), her brothers: Bert and Tim; Cindy’s loving husband of 44 years, Ted, her son, Tad and his wife, Sara. God certainly answered Cindy’s prayers with her two grandsons, Aidan and Luke, and the many cousins, nieces and nephews whom she loved and cared for so much. Family was everything to Cindy; she loved them all. Everyone who knew Cindy Loved Cindy.

In lieu of flowers, to honor Cindy’s memory and her love for children,  please consider a donation to a local or national charity supporting children’s education, healthcare, or wellbeing.

In her honor, there will be a visitation on March 3, 2022 at 9:30am at Shrine of the True Cross Catholic Church in Dickinson, Texas.  A funeral service will follow at 10:30 am at Shrine of the True Cross Catholic Church, 300 FM 517 Road East in Dickinson, Texas. Interment will follow at Galveston Memorial Park.

  2. My deepest sympathy is with the Martin Family. I was so blessed to be part of the family for 30 years. Cindy was one of the happiest people I have every met. She made me feel welcome and had me in stitches eveytime we were together. Her sense of humor and genuine kindness was so special. She made me feel like family instantly. She would do anything for anyone and was so loving to my kids. I see so much of her humor in both Alex and Karen. It was so sad to know in the past years, Cindy had experienced such a change. I will remember her as she was, a beautiful, kind, caring, funny and loving person. Knowing she is in heaven with our Lord….how wonderful is that! We all know she has put smiles and laughter on the faces of the family and friends in Heaven. Love to all the Martin’s. Each and everyone of you will always have a special place in my heart.

  3. Cindy helped mold me into the man I am today. In the 1980s when I worked at the District Clerk’s Office as a young inexperienced boy, she took me under her wing and taught me as much as my brain could handle at the time. After being at the clerk’s office for 9 years, I continued to grow at other jobs thanks to Cindy. She was an incredible person, and someone I will always admire. My condolences to her family and friends during this sad time. Rest well, Cindy. I will miss you dearly.

  8. I remember growing up as a kid in Hitchcock and spending many nights with the Martin family around the dining table. Mr. Martin and all his funny jokes and you knew if Cindy was around you were always going to have a fun night. I loved Cindy and the whole Martin family. I’m sure she has everyone laughing in Heaven. Rest In Peace Cindy.

  9. Dear Ted and family,
My heart is aching for you and your family. I was deeply saddened to hear about your beloved Cindy’s passing. My parents loved Cindy so much. She, also, was such an inspiration and so kind to me when I was undergoing treatment. I am sure Cindy was such a shining light not only to us but to many lives. My dear friend, Ted, I wish I could take away some of your pain. Please know that I am thinking about you and praying for comfort for you and your family.

  10. Our paths crossed infrequently as children, even though we just lived across the way. Mostly via the church, as our families were quite active at Our Lady of Lourdes, would we get to visit and enjoy each other’s company. I do remember playing nuns in Las Vegas for a CYO competition, riding back and forth from Lamar and dorm get-togethers during our college years, and seeing her sporadically at Galveston functions. Cindy was always memorable from that wonderful smile and great sense of humor. My heart and prayers go out to the Martin family and her husband and children and grandchildren.
