Brenda Marie Andrus Montgomery

Brenda Marie Andrus Montgomery, 76, of Dickinson, passed away in her home surrounded by her loved ones at 11:30 AM on May 10th, 2023.  Brenda was born on November 18th, 1946 in Amite, Louisiana, to Helen Marie and Byron Merton Andrus.  She succumbed to a 3 year battle against pancreatic and liver cancer. Just before she passed, she declared that she was going to finish the race and then shout for joy. She was a retired Juvenile Probation Officer and a loyal member of the Bacliff Church of Christ. Quilting was a great passion of hers and she lovingly made numerous quilts and taught the art of quilting to those that were part of her life. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She is preceded in death by her parents and a sister Sheryl Carnegie.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband of 57 years, William “Bill” Montgomery; son David Andrus Montgomery and wife Valarie; daughter Nikki Wilburn and husband Daniel; sisters Wanda Henderson and husband Harold, and Joy Lynn Decuir and husband Terry; brother-in-law Roy Carnegie; grandchildren Kaitlyn Montgomery, Mike Shafter and wife Stacey, Daniel Shafter, and Rebecca Shafter; great-grandchildren Ethan Shafter, Sebastian Laws, and Maddy Shafter; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will be receiving friends 1:30 – 2:00 pm, with a memorial service at 2:00 pm, on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at Crowder Funeral Home Dickinson.
