Betty Ruth (Fraley) Crum

Betty Ruth (Fraley) Crum passed away at her home in League City TX on April 20, 2026 at the age of 93.

She was born at home in League City TX July 1, 1932, the second of five children born to U. N. Fraley and Irene Parker Fraley.

Betty was faithful to Jesus Christ, having accepted Him as her Lord and Savior at the age of 9 years. Her father and two of her brothers accepted Christ at the same revival in League City. Faith and family were her first priorities in life.

She was an incredible cook, but not adventurous with new foods or recipes. Her best dishes were beef stew, chicken and dressing and chicken and dumplings. Sewing was her passion in her younger years.

Employment started young at Sakowitz in downtown Houston, followed by traveling with her husband with the railroad then motherhood. As her children grew, she became a hairdresser and owned her own salon. In midlife, she became a registered nurse and worked in cancer research with the Stehlin Foundation, then came to St John hospital and worked a surgical floor. In her last years, she worked pediatrics, retiring at age 74.

Betty was preceded in death by an infant daughter, her parents U.N..Fraley and Irene Parker Fraley, her four siblings, Herman Fraley and spouse Dorothy Fraley, Bill Fraley and spouse Nancy Fraley, Allen Fraley, sister Joyce Fraley James and spouse G.L. James,

She is survived by her son Ricky Crum and spouse Judy Crum, daughter Trish Crum, grandson Michael Crum and spouse Jennifer Crum, granddaughter Rene’ Crum Whitten and spouse Keith Whitten, great grandchildren Jillian Cooper and spouse Kolby Cooper, Peyton Whitten, Addison Whitten, Audrey Crum and Natalie Crum, great great grandchildren Josie Cooper, Charlee Cooper and Karter Cooper, a sister in law Carol Fraley and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 9,2026 11:00am at Lighthouse Fellowship of Friends Church, 925 3rd St, League City, TX 77573.

Donations may be made to Lighthouse Fellowship of Friends Church in League City, American Center for Law and Justice or Samaritans Purse.
