Barbara Lou Sample

Barbara Lou Sample passed away peacefully at her home on August 14, 2025 in Pasadena, Texas. Barbara was born April 6, 1936 in an old country farmhouse in Benton, Louisiana to her parents, Leslie Auten Bundy and Mary Ezell Bundy. Her family later moved to Pasadena when she was 6 years old. Affectionately called “Mee Maw” by friends and family, she was a beloved daughter, sister, and mother.

Barbara met her husband, Bobby James Sample, when she was 14 years old. They were married in 1954, not long after becoming parents to 3 children. She served many years at Chevron Philips, retiring in 1996. She and Bobby traveled the world up until the time he was diagnosed with brain cancer and Barbara cared for him until he passed in 1999. After his passing, she continued traveling with her girlfriends and volunteered her time at the local elementary schools reading to young children. Barbara was a faithful member of The Church of Christ for 73 years.

Mee Maw had a vibrant, fun-loving, and kindhearted spirit who never met a stranger! She enjoyed shopping, sewing, spending time with family and friends, and always was dressed to impress come Wednesdays and Sundays (her favorite days of the week). Church!

Barbara was preceded in death by her: loving husband, Bobby; parents; brothers, Clint and Norman; grandsons, Patrick Sample and Cody Harsey.

She is survived by her: sons, Dirk Sample (Donna) and Brent Sample (Kathy); daughter Stacey Harsey; grandchildren, Monique Turner (Alan), Travis Sample, Brent Jr. Sample (Katie), Bethany Pruessner (Chad), Ashley Davis (Cody), Courtney Harsey, Ray and fiancé Bryce; 13 great-grandchildren, and she narrowly missed the birth of her great great-grandson, Campbell, on August 16, 2025.

A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. at Southside Church of Christ, 4110 Preston Ave., Pasadena, Texas 77505. A Funeral Service will begin after the visitation at 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster, Texas.
