Barbara Joyce Cornell, of League City, passed away on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at her home in League City at the age of 81. She was born on February 6, 1940 in Evanston, Illinois to Joseph and Rose Simpson.

She grew up in Elmwood Park, IL near dear cousins and family. There she met the love of her life, Allen Cornell.

She raised her family in the Catholic Faith at St Mary’s in Buffalo Grove, IL and enjoyed being secretary at Willow Grove Elementary.

Her summers were spent square dancing and camping with husband Al, children and friends. Then, they purchased a lake house in Rome, Wisconsin on Lake Camelot where family and friends enjoyed many summers.

When Barbara and Al retired, they spent it in Sun Lakes, AZ near dear childhood and Illinois State Police friends.  In summer months they took their motorhome adventures visiting Wisconsin, children, grandchildren, family and friends always sharing her love of dogs sewing ceramics and cookie baking with all.

She was preceded in death by her husband Allen, son Donald and sister Nancy. Barbara is survived by her daughters Deborah Litzinger and husband Eric, Beth Hop and husband Lee, Jacqueline Hill Cornell, grandchildren William, Kimberley, Johnny, Chase, Kathryn, Charles, Barbara, Kyle, Kelly, Tyler, Ryan, twenty great grandchildren, her beloved dog Oliver and many other loving family and friends.
