Alexa del Carmen Garcia
Alexa del Carmen Garcia, 84, a resident of Houston, Texas, passed from this life on April 10, 2025. She was born on July 10, 1940 in Cerete, Colombia to parents, Francisco Jose Chaljub and Alexandra Aruachan.
She met and married Miguel Antonio Garcia and together they raised three children. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
She was a devoted member of St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church in Clear Lake, Texas. Alexa loved going on cruises, taking day trips to the casino with friends or anyone that would go with her. Her family was the most important thing to her along with her dog Lulu. She couldn’t know of anyone who needed help because she was right there willing to do what she could. The amount of people she helped is too great to count. One thing you could be sure of was that she stood by her faith and her beliefs of right and wrong and would never falter from them.
Alexa is preceded in death by her husband, Miguel Antonio Garcia and three sisters, Gladys, Socorro and Miryam.
She leaves behind to treasure her memory, daughters, Angela Garcia and her husband, Jorge Fragoso and Norma Garcia; son, Eduardo Garcia and wife, Kelli; grandchildren, Miguel Escobar, Alexandra Lavelle and her husband Ross, Sofia Alvarez, Simon Garcia, Sebastian Garcia and great-grandchildren, Cristian, Emily and Santiago.
In her honor, there will be a funeral mass at St. Clare of Assisi Church on El Dorado Blvd, Friday, May 9th at 10:30 am followed by a reception in their Parish Hall. Following the reception, an interment ceremony of her ashes at 1:45 pm at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Dickinson will be held.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the MS Society.
