Alan DeLynn Moore III

Alan DeLynn Moore III, 36 years old, passed away unexpectedly on July 27, 2026 in Houston, Texas.  He was born on October 13, 1989 in Houston to Alan D. Moore, Jr. and Mila Johnson Moore.

Alan was an Eagle Scout from Troop 869 where he developed a strong interest in scuba diving and in later years received his commercial dive license.  He earned a BS degree in Environmental Engineering from the United States Air Force Academy/Colorado Springs, CO in 2012 and received his MS in Systems Engineering from the University of Houston-Clear Lake in 2021.  He was one course shy of receiving his PhD in Engineering from Texas A&M University/College Station, TX.  He held the PE (professional engineer) license and was employed at TLC Engineering, Inc. in Houston where he enjoyed working and interacting with his colleagues.

Alan had many interests but a passion for working out, scuba diving,  going to movies and gliding.   He was a Lego builder enthusiast and owned elaborate models he built that he displayed in his home, along with an extensive collection of Pokemon cards.  His love of reading grew from when he was a child that turned out to be an eclectic mix of sci fi, fantasy and philosophy. Alan loved hanging out with his friends and going on walks with his mom.  He was gifted in many ways:  how he cared for his friends, his intellect and integrity.  He had a great sense of humor and many times he had a movie quote ready for any situation.  He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his parents Alan & Mila Moore, brother John Tyler Moore of Boise, ID, Uncle Ty Johnson of NC, Aunt Beth J. Ray (Bill) of SC, Uncle Mike Moore (Melanie) of VA, Cousin Mia Moore and numerous family members in the Carolinas and friends from all over the US.

A service of remembrance will be held Saturday, September 12, 2026; 1pm at University Baptist Church 16106 Middlebrook Dr, Houston   77059 where he enjoyed attending the Mosaic Weekend Bible Study class. In lieu of flowers those wishing to make a memorial donation in Alan’s memory may do so c /o University Baptist Church, https://www.ubc.org or 16106 Middlebrook Dr. Houston 77059 or to the PTSD foundation of America/Camp Hope, ptsdusa.org.
