Tony Anthony Sumney
Tony Anthony Sumney (47) peacefully passed away on Monday, January 26, 2026, in Galveston, Texas. He was born August 25, 1978 in Galveston, Texas to Glenn and Liz Sumney.
Tony was a man whose life was rooted in love, loyalty, and always showing up for the people who mattered most. To his wife, Amanda, he was her Superman—her protector, partner, and constant. To his grandchildren, he was lovingly known as “Poppop,” or to his oldest Grandson “Best Friend.” To everyone who knew him, Tony was the kind of man you could always count on—generous with his time, his skills, and his heart, always ready to help family, friends, or anyone in need. He was strong and congruous and overcame lots of obstacles.
Tony was a devoted husband, proud father, and adoring grandfather, son, brother, uncle and a true friend to many. Tony found joy in building and remodeling, taking pride in working with his hands and creating things that would last—much like the memories he leaves behind. Music filled his heart and his home. He loved picking and playing with all the kiddo’s, dancing, and karaoke, using music to bring laughter, connection, and light to those around him. Tony also enjoyed mowing, watching the Dallas Cowboys and playing cards.
Tony is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Amanda Sumney; his mother, Liz Sumney; son, Tyler Sumney and fiancé Cailee, daughters: Kayla Morgan, Nichole Emberton and husband Jay, Hailey Bradshaw, and Danielle David; older brother, Glenn Sumney Jr. and wife Alicia; his twin sister, Tina Davis and husband Stan; and his younger sister, Pam Martinez and husband Andre. He is also survived by his in-laws, Roger and Mary Kirk and leaves behind his cherished grandchildren—Eastyn, Jonah, Hayden, Richard, Joycelin, Karter, and Grayson—each of whom held a special place in his heart; his nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and many close friends he considered family who will grow up hearing stories of a man who loved deeply and lived fully.
Tony was preceded in death by his father, Glenn Sumney Sr.; his grandparents; Caroline and Oscar Sumney and Laura and Herbert Smith Sr.; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A celebration of Tony’s life will be held on February 20, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at The Barn 319 W. Willis St., Alvin, Texas 77511. Family and friends are invited to gather to remember, honor, sing karaoke, share stories, and celebrate the life of a man whose love, laughter, and presence will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
And if you look closely, you may just see him dancing on the moon—finally catching the boy fishing there—smiling, singing, and watching over the ones he loves.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque.

I am so sorry Mama Liz, and the family.
Praying for comfort and strength during this time.
