Jerrie Jeanette Dawson

Jerrie Jeanette Dawson, 83, of Houston, TX passed away at The Shores at Clear Lake Memory Care on Thursday, January 15, 2026. She was born in Palmer, TN to the late Walter and Katherin Evans of Gruetli-Laager on December 7th, 1942.

Jerrie graduated from Grundy County High, Class of 1961 in Tracy City, TN. She worked at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, TN until she married in 1965. After moving to south Georgia with her husband, she worked at JP Stephens in Tifton where she made close friends. After having children, she spent most of her time as a homemaker always keeping a watchful eye on her daughter and son.  Jerrie was a member at Eastside Baptist Church, where she served the Lord by visiting people when they were sick and caring for children in the church nursery. She loved walking, listening to Elvis and watching sports, especially the Lady Vols basketball team.

Her husband, Samuel Dawson, two sisters, and two brothers preceded her in death. She is survived by her two children, Myra Dawson (Kenneth) Smith of Houston, TX and Garry Brent Dawson of Forestville, CA, two granddaughters, Jeanette Marie Smith and Jessica Kathleen Smith of Houston, TX, two sisters, Alice Imogene Sweeton (Carl Ray Sweeton) of Flintstone, GA, and Doris A. Evans of Flintstone, GA; two nephews, Ivan Bentley Sweeton of Brookhaven, GA and Boyce Conley (Melinda Long) Sweeton of Rock Spring, GA; cousins, Sarah (Adam) Gebelein; second cousins, Ruth and Sumner Gebelein of Ringgold, GA, also cousin Laura Allison Sweeton.

Family will receive friends 5-7PM, Wednesday, January 21st at Crowder Funeral Home, 1645 East Main in League City, TX 77573 with prayer service at 6:30 PM. A graveside service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday January 24th, (Central Standard Time) at Plainview Cemetery in Tracy City, TN.
