Donald Washington Hart

Donald Washington Hart, age 73, of League City, Texas, passed away on November 9, 2025. He was born on March 11, 1952, in Savannah, Georgia, to Thelma Luellen Hart and Washington Hart.

Donald graduated from Tompkins High School and, just three days later, proudly entered the United States Army to serve his country. He went on to build a long and honorable military career, followed by a dedicated tenure as an engineer operator for one of the largest chemical plants in the Houston area.

He was a proud Christian, trusting fully in God and in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was known for his integrity, his intelligence, his kindness, and his unwavering love for others. After retiring, he continued to serve, devoting much of his time to charitable work. One of his greatest joys was volunteering with Meals on Wheels, where he spent countless hours delivering meals and companionship throughout the community.

Donald enjoyed cars and motorcycles, keeping up with the latest in technology, and exploring the stock market in his free time. Above all, he loved his family. He was the beloved husband of Vickie Shell; a devoted father to Summer Hart-Paul, Tony Hart, Shaun Rogers, Donya Hart Swinton, and Kellorie Johnson Anthony; and a caring stepfather to Jacobi Shell and Dorsheika Shell. He was the proud grandfather of eleven beautiful grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Thelma Luellen Johnson Hart and Washington Hart. He is survived by his loving wife, Vickie; his children; his stepchildren; and his siblings Allen Cason, Carolyn Hart-Green, Cathie Hart Hayes, and Arnold Hart.

Services will be held on November 22 at 2:00 p.m. at Crowder Funeral Home, 851 FM-517 Rd W, followed by interment at Forest Park East Cemetery.

Donald’s legacy of service, faith, generosity, and love will continue to live on in all who knew him.

    • I extend my condolences to Vickie & the rest of the Hart family. Donald was a fellow classmate & a former spouse. From 8th grade homeroom to adulthood, he embodied special qualities: Very focused & intentional, kind-hearted, compassionate, empathetic, a quiet strength, genuine-authentic…the “Real deal.” He will be forever in our (Donya) hearts. Rest in paradise🙏🏾😇💜
