Anthony “Tony” Allen Jones

Anthony Allen Jones, 78, of Texas City, Texas, passed from his earthly life on Wednesday, November 12, 2025. Born in Oneonta, New York to Ruth Ellen Thayer Jones, on March 11, 1947, Tony lived a life of integrity, selflessness, love, and laughter. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and uncountable others who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Tony met the love of his life, Patricia Ann Main, on a blind date while stationed at Camp Pendleton. After a brief courtship, Tony and Pat were married on March 26, 1968 – just three days before being deployed to Vietnam. Tony was a proud member of the United States Navy and recipient of the Purple Heart. After serving his country for four years, Tony and Pat moved to Texas, where they started their family in 1970.

During Tony’s forty-three years as a truck driver, most of which were with Central Freight Line, he built a reputation defined by professionalism, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to safety, earning numerous safe-driving awards and retiring with an extraordinary five million safe miles behind the wheel. He dedicated his time to serving on multiple accident review boards, was admired for his mentorship and genuine friendship, and was chosen from over 1,100 nominations as an ATA America’s Road Team Captain in the 1990s. Tony proudly represented the trucking industry on the state and national level as the 2010 Texas Trucking Association’s Driver of the Year and the American Trucking Association’s National Driver of the Year.

Tony was a member of the Masonic Lodge 1118 and a former member of Memorial Baptist Church, but some of his most cherished memories came from the time he spent with his son at All the Little Things Country Horse Program and the almost forty years he volunteered as a coach for the Special Olympics.

Tony will always be remembered for his soft heart, quick wit, and love for his family and friends. We couldn’t have asked for a more loving and supportive husband, dad, and ‘Papa’. Although we will miss him dearly, we are blessed to have countless memories to treasure.

Tony was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Ellen Thayer Jones, and his brother, Robert Jones.

He will be lovingly remembered and is survived by his wife of 57 years, Patricia Jones, his children Shannon Langford (Michael), Randy Jones (Rhonda), and Todd Jones, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Tony is also survived by his sister and brother, Rebecca Brannick (Gordon) and Ronald Jones (Patricia), one niece, several nephews, and uncountable family and friends.

In Tony’s honor, a visitation will be held at the Crowder Funeral Home Chapel, 851 FM 517 Rd W, Dickinson, TX 77539 on Saturday, November 22, 2025 from 9:00 – 10:00 AM with the funeral service at 10:00AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that donations be made to All the Little Things Country Horse Program, an organization near and dear to Tony’s heart and family, especially his youngest son, Todd. Donations can be mailed to All the Little Things Country Horse Program, Attn: Erin, 201 FM 2917, Alvin,
TX, 77511.
