Gary Paul Chamblee

Gary Paul Chamblee, 88, of The Woodlands, TX, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2025, on his 88th birthday.

Gary was born on September 6, 1937, in Sulphur, Louisiana, to Woodrow and Leola Chamblee. He earned his B.S. from Louisiana State University, an M.S. from McNeese State University, and pursued doctoral studies at the University of Houston.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of Captain and completing a deployment in Korea. Following his service, Gary enjoyed a long and fulfilling career in computer programming, contributing to the NASA space program through several contracting companies.

While attending graduate school, Gary met the love of his life, Linda Diane Gibbs, whom he married in 1964. Together, they raised two children, Brooke and Mark, in Seabrook, TX, where they made their home for 35 years. Gary was a devoted Christian, husband, father, and grandfather. He found joy in gardening, swimming, and Bible studies, always placing faith and family at the center of his life.

Gary was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 40 years, Linda Diane Gibbs Chamblee, who passed away in 2004; his parents, Woodrow and Leola Chamblee; and his in-laws, Floyd and Blanche Gibbs.

Gary is survived by his daughter, Brooke Gilcrease and husband Brad of Cypress, TX; his son, Mark Chamblee and wife Tracy of The Woodlands, TX; his grandchildren, Cameron Chamblee, Madison Gilcrease Navratil and husband Oliver, Ryan Gilcrease, and Alyssa Chamblee; his brother, Byron Chamblee and wife Evelyn of Sulphur, LA; his sister-in-law Wanda Arbaugh and husband Richard of Houston, TX; and many nieces and nephews.  Gary’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Nicole Williams, his caregiver for the last few years.

A viewing and rosary will be held on Sunday, September 21, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with the rosary beginning at 6:00 PM at Crowder Funeral Home in Webster, TX. Funeral Mass will be Monday, September 22, at 10:20 AM at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Clear Lake, TX. Interment will follow at Mt Olivet Catholic Cemetery, Dickinson, TX.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Gary’s memory to St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in The Woodlands, TX, or St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Clear Lake, TX.

Gary’s family takes comfort in knowing that he is now in the Kingdom of Heaven with our Lord and Savior and reunited with Linda.

Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a little, I will set you over much; enter into the joy of your master.
