Penny Gayle Henson

Penny Gayle Henson, 64, a resident of League City, Texas, passed away on August 31, 2025. She was born on September 6, 1960, in Rosenberg, Texas, to parents Wilburn Allen and Ruby Ellis Allen, and was raised in the Stafford, Texas area.

She met the love of her life, Michael Eugene Henson, at the Galveston Sheriff’s Office, and from the very first day they were a perfect match.

Penny was a registered nurse for more than 25 years, dedicating much of her career to HCA Mainland, where she worked in the ER and in many other areas of the hospital. Her compassion, skill, and devotion touched countless lives.

She found joy in the simple pleasures of life—floating the Frio and Guadalupe rivers, singing and enjoying music, participating in cook offs, serving as a volunteer in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and caring for her beloved animals. Penny also had a playful spirit, and she was a devoted fan of Miss Piggy from the Muppets.

Above all, she was a loving grandmother to Courtney, Colton, Michaela, Trey, Camden and Shelby.

Known for her generous heart, Penny always put others before herself.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Michael Eugene Henson; her brothers, Robert Allen, Monte Allen, and Tommy Allen; and her nephew, Scott Allen. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her stepdaughter, Lynne Quoyeser and husband Raymond; her step-son, Michael E. Henson, Jr. and wife Lynette; her niece, Ashley Richelle Allen; extended family, including Jack Allen and  Lori Allbright, and numerous family friends.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson, Texas, with a funeral service to follow at 7:00 p.m. A private graveside service and interment will take place at Davis Greenlawn Cemetery in Rosenberg, Texas.
