Dennis “Denny” Earl Holt

Dennis “Denny” Earl Holt, 78, passed away peacefully at his home on July 27, 2025. He was born on July 5, 1947, in Randallstown, MD, to Earl and Mary Belle Holt. Denny’s life was marked by robust strength, unwavering loyalty, and a deep love for his faith, family, friends, community, Elvis—and his red Corvette.
Denny proudly called League City, TX, home since 1977. Over a 30-year career with the City, he served the community in many capacities, including as Emergency Management Coordinator. His strong presence and steadfast dedication left a lasting impact on both the City and the countless individuals fortunate to know him.
A lifelong car enthusiast, Denny was instrumental in founding the Space City Cruisers Car Club, an organization that helped fund scholarships and youth programs. His community spirit extended even further through his leadership with the Kemah Lions Club, League City Lions Club, League City Evening Lions Club, and Lions Club International, where he held more than 20 cabinet and club positions. His heart was deeply invested in the Texas Lions Camp, where he proudly volunteered and supported its mission to serve children with disabilities—work he considered among his most meaningful. He also played a leading role in the Annual Christmas Boat Lane Parade, helping boaters navigate the waters to ensure a festive evening for all.
Denny was a true fixture in the community. You could often find him enjoying coffee and conversation with friends at Shipley’s Donuts, cruising the roads in one of his many cars with his signature driving gloves, or worshiping at Lighthouse Fellowship Church, where he faithfully professed his love for the Lord.
It was during his time with the City that Denny met the love of his life, Barbara L. Holt. Together, they shared 37 years of marriage filled with laughter, devotion, shared passions, and the joy of a blended family. Their union stood as a shining example of true partnership and unconditional love.
Denny is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Mary Belle Holt, and his beloved daughters, Angel Holt and Missy Holt. He is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara; his sister, Marla Holt; and his children: Jeannie Simons (husband, Jason), Christina Jeffcoat, Stephen Holt (wife, Kelly), Scott Jeffcoat (fiancée, Pixie Allard), and Holly Goldstein (husband, Daniel Gonzales). He is also survived by his aunts, Margaret “Mimi” Duntley and Rose Smith; grandchildren: Krystyna Lane-Boston, Jennifer Potter (husband, Nick), Megan Mann (husband, Anthony), Amanda East, TJ Mitzel, Leslee Nichols, Breanna Jeffcoat (boyfriend, Christian Rodriquez), Grannan Long (fiancée, Brittany Hodges), Stephen Holt (wife, Bailey), Garrison Long, Connor Goldstein (girlfriend, Karli Moore), and Savannah Holt; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends who loved him dearly.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson, TX. Private family interment to follow at Forest Park Cemetery in Webster, TX.

A special thank-you to the many nurses and staff at MD Anderson in League City and Houston for their care and friendship during his treatments.
Barbara extends a heartfelt thank-you to Pastor Don Owens and Kathy Hoke for their continued prayers during the final days of Denny’s life, and to her niece, Laura Gonzales, for her unwavering love and generous help with arranging “all the things.”

  1. Thank you so much, Denny, for keeping an eye out for me in my youth and providing me with some of the best conversations when I got older! I was always genuinely happy to see you and Barbara sitting outside the garage enjoying life. It gave me great hope for the future.
I am sorry I haven’t been around much lately, but I am very grateful I was able to see you and Barbara last Thanksgiving.
I am glad you have found your peace and are no longer in pain. I look forward to seeing you again!
God bless you, Denny! And, God bless the Holt Family!

  2. If I knew nothing more about Denny than his dedication and love for his daughter, Jeanie Simons, it would be enough. His commentment to her and her brother instilled their morals and faith. When Jeanie married my son, Jason, Denny embraced him into the family. He will be remembered and missed.

  4. I am so sorry for your loss. It was a pleasure working with Denny for the years we worked together. We used to have fun with our talks in his office at League City. We had fun. I will be praying for your family.
