Samuel “Sammy T” Torres, Sr.

Samuel “Sammy T” Torres, Sr. 65, of Galveston, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025, in Houston, Texas.
Born on July 31, 1959, in Galveston, Texas, to Eugenio and Lydia Torres.

Samuel is preceded in death by his parents Eugenio and Lydia Torres, brothers Eugene Torres Jr, and Henry Torres Sr. He is survived by his only Son, Samuel Torres Jr., Wife, Jacqueline Cristina Torres, and Granddaughter Ivey Madalynn Torres, 3 brothers, Eduardo Torres, Jose Torres, and David Torres and numerous nephews, nieces, extended family and close friends. Samuel was a lifelong resident of Galveston and attended Ball High school.

Samuel Torres Sr. was a man of strength, humor, and heart—a true “man’s man” whose presence lit up every room he entered. Known for his big smile and even bigger personality, Sam was the kind of guy who always had a joke in his back pocket and a warm word for everyone he met. Whether casting a fishing line at sunrise, playing darts with buddies, or rooting for his beloved Dallas Cowboys, he embraced life with a deep love for the simple things.

After long, hard days on the job—never one to shy away from honest work—Sam could often be found at his favorite bars in Galveston, an ice-cold beer in hand, surrounded by friends and laughter.

Two of Sam’s proudest moments came from the people he loved most. In 2002, his heart swelled with pride when his son, Samuel Torres Jr., enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. It was a moment that meant the world to him—a reflection of the values he held dear: service, courage, and honor. Years later in 2018, his joy expanded with the birth of his granddaughter, Ivey. She became the light of his life, and his love for her was deep, unwavering, and beautiful to witness.

Sam was a hardworking, likeable man who made life better just by being part of it.
He will be remembered with a smile, and missed with all our hearts.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the caregivers and loved ones who stood by Sam during his illness—your support and compassion will never be forgotten.

A celebration of his life, followed by a time of fellowship, will be held on July 5, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Centro de Bendición, located at 317 5th Avenue North, Texas City, Texas 77590, with Pastor Ram Tovar officiating.
