David Henry Erhardt
David Henry Erhardt, 85, passed away Sunday morning, May 11, 2025 in Houston, Texas. He was born on December 12, 1939 in Center, North Dakota to Peter R. Erhardt and Rose Schmidt Erhardt.
David grew up on a farm in Center, North Dakota and graduated from Center High School. He then attended Dickinson State Teachers College in Dickinson, North Dakota. He had a very successful career in retail, starting as a Store Manager for Montgomery Ward and finishing his career as the Retail Development Director over the United States and Mexico for Ace Hardware. He was recognized for outstanding achievement multiple times throughout his career and was a leader and mentor to thousands of employees.
Away from work, David was active in both his community and his church, serving on several boards and committees. David had a love for music and his fondest memories included playing in a polka band with his father. He volunteered at both a local hospital and at Theodore Roosevelt National Park at Medora in his home state of North Dakota. He enjoyed traveling, golfing and reading and most importantly, he valued his time with family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Loretta Wetsch Erhardt; sons Terrance (Terry) Lee Erhardt and wife Jan of Blanchard, Oklahoma and Robert (Bob) Michael Erhardt of San Francisco, California; daughter, Sheryl (Sheri) Ann Erhardt Williams and husband Tom of Houston, Texas; sisters, Delphine Erhardt Vetter and husband Ben of Linton, North Dakota, Doretta Erhardt Bornemann and husband Tim of Mandan, North Dakota and Danita Erhardt Deichert and husband Paul of Mandan, North Dakota; brother, Dean Erhardt and wife Lisa of St. Louis, Missouri; grandchildren Lydia Erhardt Bagley and husband Dave, Sarah Erhardt Connelly and husband Price, Trevor Erhardt, Brinley Williams, Avery Williams and Macy Ann Williams Pearson and husband Tanner; great grandchildren Aryn Bagley, David Connelly, Ayden Bagley and Alice Connelly.
A memorial Mass was held on Wednesday, May 14th in Houston, Texas. A celebration of David’s life will be held at a later date.
May you rest in peace Dad! I have so many fond memories of our times together, including your wonderful “Dad” jokes! I look forward to an even brighter future together with you and our Lord! God Bless!
