Shirley Lydia Clark

Shirley Lydia Clark, 84, a resident of Santa Fe, Texas, has entered the gates of Heaven. Her first smile on Earth was on October 17, 1940, and her first smile in Heaven was on April 27, 2025.

Shirley Lydia “Memaw/Meme” Clark is preceded in death by her parents, Jesse A. Sr. and Lydia Santos; her brothers, Jesse A. “Sonny” Santos Jr., Lionel “Bubba” Santos and his wife Alma, her daughter, Terrie O’Hara, grandson, Miles McBrayer, and nephew Brian Boles.

She leaves behind to treasure her memory daughters, Cindy Schott (Robert), Dee Northcutt (Craig), Sheleen Tyson (Jeff), and her grandchildren who were the center of her world: Tiffany Deluna (Aaron), Tara Mata (Cheyenne), Brandi Compean, Trey Gibbs (Shealei), Hunter Tyson, and Taylor Tyson. Her great-grandchildren include Ava Delgado (Julian), Maddy Blake, Kaydence Compean, Ricky Compean, Hunter Linton, River Gibbs, and numerous bonus great-grandchildren who will continue to carry the light that surrounded her. She also leaves behind her nieces Brenda Padilla (Richard), Michelle Moreno, and former sister-in-law, Gayle Short.

Shirley graduated from Ursuline Catholic Academy of Galveston and pursued her education further at Beauty School, where she blossomed into a phenomenal hairdresser. She then transitioned into a new career as a florist, where she retired and concluded her journey in the workforce.

She devoted her life to her family, who were her heart and soul. On her days off, you could find Shirley on a soccer or ball field, in a swimming pool, or sitting on the back porch, but no matter where she was, she was always with her family. She found joy and so much happiness in watching her grandchildren in all the sports and activities they participated in. She was the grandma who had a matching hat, shirt, and chair sitting on the sidelines cheering them on.

Shirley had a hidden talent and love for painting, drawing and crafting. She was a crafter to no end and could make or create anything you needed. She spent countless hours behind a sewing machine, as well as crocheting. One item that she made by hand that is a priceless piece of memory was her grandson Miles’s memory blanket. These are just a few things that her family will cherish and miss the most.

On weekends, Shirley could be found passionately supporting her beloved team, the Houston Astros. She never missed a game on TV, was well-acquainted with every player and their positions, and attended countless games at Minute Maid Park. It was evident that she was their biggest fan. In fact, she even has a brick dedicated to her at the ballpark. Her collection of Astros accessories was extensive, ranging from earrings and purses to socks and jerseys. You name it, she had it, and she wore each piece with pride.

The family will honor Shirley’s life on Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson, Texas. A funeral service will take place immediately afterward at 11:00 AM.

As we remember Shirley’s spirit—her joy, love, and strength—may we find comfort in her memory. Let it serve as a reminder to embrace each day as she did: with heart, resilience, and joy.

With love and remembrance,

The Family of Shirley Lydia Clark
