Robert “Bob” LeRoy Coursen, Sr.

Robert “Bob” LeRoy Coursen, Sr., 80, of League City, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, August 1, 2019. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Sylvia; his children — daughter Cheryl Coursen and her wife Lisa Leo; son Robert Coursen, Jr.; daughter Nora Whyte and her husband Mike; daughter Kathy Correll and her husband Kraig; daughter Cynthia Price and her husband Joey — his 13 grandchildren; his sister Eleanor Bruch and her husband; and extended family.

Bob was born to Emma Pribzick on January 15, 1939 in Easton, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Easton High School and served 10 years in the U.S. Navy, where he held the rank of chief petty officer. Bob is a Vietnam veteran and earned many accommodations during his service, including a Navy Unit Commendation medal on the USS Coral Sea for exceptional meritorious service. While in the Navy, Bob earned his electrician’s degree, which he carried over to his civilian career as a master electrician for Dixie, the paper cup company.

Bob and his wife retired to Texas, and together they have traveled the world, continuing his love of the sea through cruises. His many hobbies included hunting, fishing, cooking, quoits, and spending time with his family.

A service celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at Christus Victor Lutheran Church on 2098 West Main Street, League City at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church.
