Wendell Galen Williamson
Wendell Galen Williamson, 70, passed away on August 5, 2026. He was born on June 27, 1956, in Houston, Texas, to Charles Douglas Williamson and Geneva Louise Grimes Williamson.
Wendell was a lifelong Houstonian. He grew up in Southeast Houston in Glenbrook Valley. He accepted Jesus as his personal savior as a child while attending Southeast Baptist Church. He graduated from Milby High School with the Class of 1974. Afterwards, he attended San Jacinto Jr. College, where he earned his Associate’s Degree, and proceeded to attend the University of Houston, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree.
He spent a dedicated part of his career teaching English and History at Sugar Land Middle School. He was a faithful member of Sugar Creek Baptist Church in Sugar Land, Texas, and was dedicated to his weekly men’s bible study group.
In addition to his love of teaching, Wendell was a talented pencil artist for more than thirty years and traveled around the country selling his pencil drawings at various arts and craft shows. He was well known for his unique artistic style, especially how he would hide Bible verses in all of his artwork. He saw this as a way to share his Christian faith with the world.
Wendell loved history. In particular, he had a deep passion for Texas History and Civil War era American History. He was also an avid collector of antique guns, especially flintlocks, since childhood.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Douglas and Geneva Louise Williamson, and his brother, Darrell Williamson.
Wendell is survived by his loving wife of thirty-three years, Stephanie Williamson; his daughters, Annalena Russo and her husband, Randy, and Danielle Williamson; his sons, Nathan Williamson and Noah Williamson; and his brother, Darwin Williamson.
A memorial service celebrating Wendell’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 14, 2026, at Sugar Creek Baptist Church Chapel, with Pastor Cliff Cummings officiating. 13213 Southwest Freeway Sugar Land, TX 77478
Wendell has been a friend since college days. The regular Saturday night phone calls and debates will be missed. I can only imagine the emptiness his passing has left for Stephanie, and send wishes to the family that happy memories can fill in some of the hurt of his passing. His exceptional pencil drawings will keep his memory alive for the many people who treasure them. Sending love and wishes for healing and for happy memories to fill the empty spaces.
I am so sorry to hear about Mr. Wendell. My heart is truly broken. We worked together at one of the craft shows that he did. I had a booth a couple away from his. He loved to talk about Jesus, his wife and children and of coarse his cannon.
Mr. Wendell had so much talent with his art. He told me that he hid Bible verses in each picture and that was so amazing because I could never see it he would have to show me.
I used to bring him a thanksgiving plate after thanksgiving for him to eat because he never leave the show. Unless it was to go to whatsburger to meet a really good friend.
I will always cherish the talks we had about our Lord and Savior.
I am Blessed and Honored to call him my friend. You will be missed by many.

Went to school with Wendell from kindergarten through 12th grade. We would go to East Texas and hunt and fire his flintlocks which were a hoot. He even made a cannon n in metal shop in high school which the football team used when they scored a touchdown. We lost touch after high School and 51 years later found each other on Facebook. Went to Canton twice this last year to visit with him and his artwork was magnificent. You will be missed old friend
