Walter (Wally) Lewis Moore

Walter (Wally) Lewis Moore of Clear Lake, Texas passed away 1/1/2026 after a battle with cancer.  He was 87.

Wally was born April 8, 1938, to James Joel Moore and Coy Lee Shields Moore in East Tupelo, Mississippi.  Wally and his family moved to Pascagoula, MS in 1944 where he attended Our Lady of Victory Catholic school. After high school Wally joined the Army where he was a proud member of the 101st Airborne “Screaming Eagle” Infantry Division.  After arriving back in Mississippi Wally worked as a welder at Gonzales Steel Works for many years. Wally was a descendant of the Chickasaw Tribe of Chickasaw County, MS.

In the late 1970s, Wally moved to Seabrook/Clear Lake area. In the early 80s is when he met and  married Carole.  Wally worked as a trusted handyman for many people and for real estate brokers in the area.  Although Wally was a master of many trades in the Bay Area, fixer of all things, and a man always ready to volunteer his time, probably his most lasting impact on the people around him was his more than 50 years’ work in Alcoholics Anonymous.  Wally sponsored many men and women in AA, many of which he was in contact with until the end.  Wally was an avid reader of history books, a novice astronomer, and was a passionate academic of higher math.  Although Wally did not talk much, he always had something interesting to allow when asked about his past.  Seeing babies and grandkids always brought a smile to his face. He was quick to foster animals.

Wally was preceded in death by his Grandmother Rosa Shields, Aunt Gladys Shields, sister Maynette Pranqer, brother Aaron Bridges, brother Robert Roseberry and sister Betty Roseberry.  Wally is survived by his wife Carole, stepson Micheal and wife Amber, stepdaughter Vicki and husband Walter, stepdaughter Theresa and husband Brad.  In total nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
