Thuy Nguyen Epperson

Thuy Nguyen Epperson passed peacefully with her loving husband, Greg, by her side holding her hand on September 1, 2021. She was born on May 16, 1971.

Thuy was a truly inspirational story of how desire and hard work leads to success. She, her mother and father, her four sisters, and two brothers were born in Nha Trang, Vietnam. They escaped the Communist takeover of Vietnam with nothing but the clothes on their back.  Eventually, they made their way to Houston where Thuy and her siblings were raised. Their father, Truong, and mother, Bong, insisted that their children receive an education in this new land of America. Thuy excelled academically at J. Frank Dobie High School and later at the University of Houston.

She and her husband, Greg, were high school sweethearts having met while working part-time at Academy. After finishing her studies at the University of Houston, Thuy traveled coast-to-coast representing PricewaterhouseCoopers for several years. Greg began a career in the oil and gas industry in Houston. Having children and traveling for work nationwide Monday through Friday were not conducive to family life. Thuy decided that she needed a career option that would provide her with a better home and work life balance. She spoke English, Vietnamese and Spanish. With help from her mother-in-law, Ann, she decided to pursue a career as a State Farm agent in Houston, which has a large Vietnamese and Hispanic population. She was extremely successful on this State Farm endeavor.

Now that she and Greg were settled, it was time for children. They have two beautiful daughters, Rachel and Lauren.  Rachel is entering her senior year at Georgia Tech where she is pursuing a degree in Biomedical Engineering and is captain of the cheerleading team.  Lauren is entering her Senior year at Friendswood High School and competes in golf tournaments.

She was a devoted wife, mother, sister and daughter to her family. Many fun evenings were spent with Thuy teaching everyone how to cook Vietnamese style dishes and singing karaoke. With her passing, a shining light has been extinguished and a dynamic, energetic personality is gone. Thuy left a wonderful legacy and will be sorely missed.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Greg; two daughters, Lauren and Rachel; her mother, Bong; a brother, Vu;  sisters, Duyen, Quynh, Thu, and Oanh; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Welcoming her to heaven are her father, Truong and her brother, Don.

Wake service will be held at Crowder Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be Mary Queen Catholic Church, followed by the final burial at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery. Virtual viewing for the wake service and funeral mass will be available by sending your contact information to condolences@thuynguyenepperson.com. In lieu of flowers, Thuy’s final wishes were for donations to www.komen.org/contact-us.

  3. This is one precious lady. We have known Thuy for many years. My daughter went to birthday parties at her house, on Sagewind, when they were kids. Then, Thuy grew up…into an amazing, beautiful, intelligent, and successful business woman. Thuy was our State Farm Insurance agent for years. She always recognized my voice…Thuy cared enough to actually know me. She took such good care of us. We trusted her because Thuy deserved it. We are heartbroken to hear of her homegoing. We offer our sincere condolences with love and prayers to her loved ones. Greg, Rachel, LuLu, Bong….we grieve with you! There will never be another Thuy Nguyen Epperson.🤍🙏🤍

  4. Thuy was our State Farm Agent from the time she took the business from Bob Stevens. Probably close to 25 years ago. She was the sweetest person…always striving to do the best for her customers. I regret I couldn’t go to lunch with her about 6 weeks ago, when I last spoke with her. May the Lord comfort her family, as they prepare for this separation. We will see her again in heaven. She will truly be missed by so many family & friends.

  7. We are so sorry to hear this. Rachel was same age as one of our girls and they spent some time at Lutheran South together. Then Thuy became our insurance agent and just a few months ago spent a lot of time with us as we tried to determine our future health insurance plans. She always asked about the family and was so proud of her girls and what they have achieved. Greg, our prayers are with you and the girls. So sorry for your loss.
